Hi When I the place in Chateauguay the owner of a Flooring store and Draperies came over to measure the floors and so on..we got to talking and it turns out this was his place. Mr Alepin..nice guy down to earth..think the land went to the golf course when it was there. Lad
Hi lad: I'm pretty sure the golf course was past Bishop Power,.as I & a few of my friends used to race our cars through the old golf course along Centrale to about 35th ?? There was only one stop sign in the middle,of te old golf course,...and Alepin as far as I can Remember was never part of the Golf Course Property,.....and really quite a long ways from it,.Alepin being almost the first street in Lasalle ..........and all the aves in between then Bishop Power , then the Golf Course property..Wasn't it? ...I lived on 9th ave Btwn Centrale & Lasalle (somewhat Edward)......and I don't recall ever hearing about any of the land being owned by the Lasalle Golf Course,...I do Remember hearing rumours to the effect that the old golf course club house was ,at some point ,owned as the Summer home of one of the Molson Family.....(not sure of that story's validity).... HF&RV
Les Got me there...I seem to remember the top half of the course running next to woods where you could walk thru to the Woolco then Wal Mart and now a Metro food store. The woods off of Champlain. The Alepin house I was talking about I always thought was the old clubhouse for the course...Could be the same family and two different locations.. now as for the drag racing those poor old duffers..shame shame..did you win at least. hahaha Lad
Old Mr Alepin lived on Lasalle Blvd. corner Richard. I lived next door and also used to steal his apples. Got caught once and Mr Alepin gave us big brown grocery bags to collect the apples that had fallen and my family ate apple pies for weeks.

I was a member of the golf course around 1960 for a few years. I think there was a small airport there before the golf course. Ken
