Another Verdun intersection:
Corner Manning & Beurling looking towards river.
Same corner looking north towards Montreal. Notice 4th ave. Bridge in background
Same corner, Old Style corner store
Close up, D챕panneur du Coin
Yesterday was an ideal day to take pictures as it was bright and sunny. It would be interesting to hear from present or former Verdunites who are/where familiar with this intersection and incidents that sparked their memories.

Good morning, Guy! Nice, clear pictures. I remember this corner well (keep passing it every morning on the 112 bus), but I have no cherished memories of anything in particular there. Have a good day, Jack
I remember the fourth avenue bridge because we used to walk across the top of it. Only on nice calm days though. Bob

Great pictures Guy. Very much appreciated.I lived on Beurling across from the field, and in back of the school. The dry cleaners were right next door to me. I don't recall the name. Thanks for taking the effort to keep our memories going. Winston Allison

Hi Winston,
Wasn't the dry cleaners "Villeneuve's"?
Regards,
Alan
Hi Guy, I can see the back end of my Grand Cherokee in the picture looking toward the bridge. There is a stop sign just beyond the car that is turning and it is parked in front of the white car. It is white also. I get to see that it is where my buddy said it was parked. Thank you. Danny
Alan. You could be right. I am not sure. Winston

Alan. That name sounds familiar. I think that is the name of the cleaners. Thanks. Winston

Villeneuve's as I remember it was between Godin and Allard, wasn't there a Perrettes (sic) Milk store on that corner? and wasn't there two convenice stores, one in the house to the East and one in the next building just south

Villeneuve Cleaners. There's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I used to have a couple of Gazette routes in Verdun and Villenneuve was a customer. Got great Christmas tips from them. Kept me living in the style to which I had become accustomed....for a 15 year old at least.

Hi Guy, In 1958-61 there was another convenience store just to the left in the bottom flats with the white doors. Can't see the door from this angle but it was the first unit tucked right up to the building shown. Keith
Hey Bob, When you had Gazette routes in Verdun, was your Manager Cliff Wheeler? Ed
Hey there Ed,
It was Cliff Wheeler. Don't know if I would have remembered that. I made what was good money for me on that job.
Did you have a route too?

John, Hi John, glad to see you enjoy the photos of Verdun that I post now and then. Enclosed is a picture of Maison St Dizier on LaSalle Boul. This is the oldest house in Verdun Having been built in 1710 and was used as a warehouse for the City of Verdun, used by the Canadian Legion as well as a danse hall for young teenagers, wich are only some of uses over its history. I presume this is the house you are talking about and that your daughter will be photographing. Our society (SHGV) is heavily involved in the promotion of this historic house, as we had an historian (Denis Gravel) make a thorough research of its history wich we have at our society and wich we hope to have published eventually once the archealogical research and digging has been completed, inside and outside of the house. I will try to keep members informed as events develop. Guy
Keith, I guess you are referring to the picture of the building at the corner of Manning and Beurling. I am glad to see that the photo triggered some memories of Verdun as this is my purpose in posting these photos. Keep those comments coming. Guy
I remember that there was a cleaners between Godin and Brown Blvd, but can't remember what the name was. Made many a trip there for my mother! lol Carole
Bob, I worked one winter as a District Manager for the Gazette. My wife got fed up with me being on the road and I tried a city job. I worked with Cliff. His district was Verdun and all LaSalle. His knowledge of history astounded me. My friend Trev Payne told me he was great to work for. Very straight with the boys. Ed
Hi Ed,
Cliff Wheeler always was good to me. No weird "trips" or anything like that.
