Another old message: Still relavent today,.....

Rather than bring the other topic to the top, I thought I'd post this response that DannyB posted in relation to his Thread,........just so it shows better upfront,.. ( that's what I did like about the other MSN site's format, every response seamed to be featured in the same size as the Thread's Topic,......and seemed to be easier to read,....of course now ,we have to get used to clicking on the 'comment' section to see what the response have been,.....(that seems to be the format of choice that blog type boards provide, I did write to Multiply at one time suggesting a possible change ,but haven't heard back from them yet,..glad to see they inherited some of MSN's response characteristics........hahahaha

Here's the old message from Danny B: from June 28th,2003             hf&rv

Hey Bear,
I totally agree that the managers have the final say. All we are doing is giving our opinion. And like any opinion there will be people that agree with you and people who will not. This is a great group and it will become even better as the word spreads to other people. As far as groups go this is the only one that I have ever seen that got my interest.I can thank alan archi. for that, he and I were very good friends and lost touch with each other about 27 or 28 years ago and he contacted me through classmates earlier this year. And since I came on connections I have been in contact with other people from my past like LesF,Harley, bettyloo,AnnM,and yourself Bear, and I don't know if I would have bothered if I had to apply. This site is about people with connections to verdun and surrounding area.Lets keep it easy and uncomplicated and make connections.  Dannyb--

The Eagles!

Wow, I went to the Eagle's "Long Road Out of Eden" Concert in Saskatoon last night......Wow, they put on an awesome show!  The backdrop videos were almost as entertaining as the music. Tonight is the last of 3 Saskatoon performances. Winnipeg is their next stop before they head back to the States. Don't pass if you have a chance to see them on this tour. I'll be looking for their CD "Long Road Out of Eden".

Visit Members Site's

Diane's hibernation post reminded me ,of this,.. Just a thought, if you click on a members photo (or headshot) you will have several choices,.the first one is 'Visit so & so'd Site'....I would encourage everyone to visit other member's site ,.maybe check out their photo albums etc etc .... I know I don't post everything in duplicate, both the VC & my site,.so I'm sure we might find other interesting pictures or it may prompt a question or story or two,who knows....Sign their Guest Book,if your so inclined, generally most posted msg's or pictures do show up in the 'In Box' of most members, but some settings maybe set ,so as not to automatically show up in Our In Box's ,.  So checkout all the stuff available .................                                           HF&RV

Invite on YUKU

This is a long message I posted on Our YUKU site,it's basically an invite to anyone who happens across there to come here ( for now anyway) and it will serve as a Welocme Invite ,to those who happen to surf across this site,Looking for Verdun Stuff, from Verdun People.......  the YUKU address is in Our links section too:

Ok here's the copy that appears on all Our Groups:   Sorry for the length

Hi , if you stumbled across this site by accident , it's just an extension of the Verdun Connections site, which originally started over 6 years ago on the MSN Groups network, and as you may or may not know MSN unceremoniously decided to pull the plug on supporting the many millions of groups they had in their network,.The final day for MSN will be this Feb 09th ,2009...the Verdun Connections has been experimenting with many different boards & venues to try & provide a reasonable alternative to the MSN site... Now that being said , We have found nothing really comparable to the ease of use old MSN site. We have chosen to follow the suggestion of MSN to migrate the group to the Multiply Network......We also have a Group on Yahoo,.as well as for over a year or so have had a Group idling on Google,....as well as a Blog on one of the bloggers networks,...... and of course this one here on Yuku.
Moving is never easy, as people by nature are reluctant to change, but keep in mind that initially you were seeking something about Verdun that you could visit ,that would allow you & your memory to be prompted by neat old old memories you had ,or pictures you could relate to. That's what the Verdun Connections site tried to provide, something mostly based with Verdun Nostalgia.....we did do our best to provide that, and we would welcome you to Visit any of our exisiting sites ,or join our new site at Multiply
http://verdunconnections2.multiply.com
We do our best to keep most of the content closer to Verdun type content or conversation between Old Friends who may have found each other on the site.....We do this so that anyone just 'surfing by'-like you, can see that it's a site dedicated to mostly Verdun stuff,.Montreal etc etc ....Rather than have you stumble across a site loaded with anything but...We hope to not waste your time on your visit, there are plenty of sites to do that.So if your Looking for Verdun ,Montreal Quebec themes ,stories. photos, then Come & Visit....& share your story,or your memories,We always appreciate content from individuals,...who want to contribute ,or just read our posted messages...and get involved 'if' you feel like it.,as long as your there ,that's good too....... so come on Have Fun & Remember Verdun

Looking For Old Friends aka: Whatever Happened to what's their name

Diane , some of the names you mentioned in the 'Testing' thread by Guy,.I do recognise, Wattie for one , as there were many from that family, but if you join this site, you should be able to see a 'green plus (add) sign' at the top of the page btwn 'shop and Invite' ..you can start your own thread/ topic from there, you can add things from your computer as well,..... We are all just learning this new site ,.so you & all of us are on relatively equal footing./...........  Experiment away, and if you don't get a response right away, then post again,.We spent just over 6 years on the other site , and it was a steady process of asking some stuff again & again, but it allowed people who just surfed by to see that they were welcome to jump in & participate or to just read all our stuff.... and the theme that caught people's attention was always one of a Verdun / Montreal story's & or photos of days we all Remembered. So Help us build this one with some of your stories or pics, & also ask for help along the way, You can be sure that if someone knows or has a suggestion they will always try to help you.

Verdun History - Richelieu/Gagnon House

You're absolutely right...

Yes, now I remember.  It was almost right
across from Yvette's store.

The house had a big "R" crest (Richelieu House) on the
front of the house.  I used to steel plums from the trees at the back of
the house (facing the boardwalk).  Those were the best, sweetest and
juiciest plums in the world.

For some reason, I was thinking the house was being
identified as being between 1st and Willibrord insteat of Willibrord and
Rielle.

We never knew it as Gagnon house.  We always
called it the Richelieu Club House.

Thanks

 Louise Lafontaine

Hockey at Verdun Auditorium

Two teams from the LHJMQ league played  at the Verdun Auditorium friday night. The Junior de Montréal beat the Québec city Remparts (that's Pattrick Roy's team)    8 to 2. At the game at the Forum tonight Patrick Roy's no. 33 sweater will be removed from the Canadien team and hoisted at the top of the ice.
