I just heard on the radio that Ben's Deli in Montreal has closed. I didn't realize, but they apparently were closed since July due to a labour dispute with the staff who wanted a 40 cent an hour raise. So, today the Kravitz family decided to shut down. I spent many an hour there eating smoked meat and my all time favourite, potato latke's with sour cream.

They were saying on TV this evening that the owners of Bens, the Kravitz family intend to sell the property as it is apparently worth 12 million dollars. Guy
No doubt it's worth quite a bit. I googled Ben's and was reading some of the news stories. One had some quotes from a waiter who worked there for 52 years!!

I believe the real estate companies were after this land for the past 15 years, they held out for their price , guess they got it Jimmy
Ok, let see now......0.40 per hour x 8 hrs x 22 staff = $70.04 per day. Like the family wasn't making any money all over the years? What a shame.....Money talks and smoked meat walks!! Keith Harrison
