VCHS between 80 and 86

Just wanna say hi and see if there are any members that went to VCHS at the same time as me. I used to hang around at that Dawson place, (with all those activities) can't remember the exact name of it. Ate alot of french fries at Woodland Restaurant. Oh ya, there was a place on Wellington near Woodland that had video games. Sound familiar to anyone?????

Hi stretchfiveninetwo,...........many generations have used the Dawson Boys  & Girls Club on Woodland,......and many of us have also eaten at Woodland Restaurant, that is the neat thing about Our Growing Up & Living in Verdun, that we all did a lot of the same things ,.even though it may be decaades apart in some cases,......but it certainly is a common thread ,we all share,..... Welcome to the Verdun Connections ,........and I hope you share some stories of your days in Verdun,.as well as post some pictures if you like: I don't remember a video game store,....but in the 60's we played a lot of pinball machines,.......and it wasn't till about 1969 ,,,that 'video machines' appeared for us,........the first one "PONG"...................hahahahahaha  Real hi tech stuff,...but it was amazing in those days.......

Wow things have changed ,...I Remember the Pool Hall on Verdun over the old Handy Andy,........I think it was 18 tables ,??  (Help Me DannyB), then there was the a number of tables on Church Av,.in the old Houle's Bowling Alley,..(no 6x12's),........then there was the one on Hickson just above Wellington on the NWest side of Hickson,..... also at one time in the real old Bowling Alley on Wellington, almost directly across from Woolworths?5 & dime..........they had a few tables too,.....Also they still had 'pinboy's' when all the others had converted to automatic pin setting......................................................Did I miss any DannyB ??/ hahahahahaha -------they (the school) would have done better to take 'attendance' at the Pool Hall on Verdun,.........................

Les, You did miss a bowling alley. I don't think there was any pooltables that I can remember. But the portch was a good place to stop and have a smoke or whatever else you might be doing   in the warmth on those cold Mtl. nights. Do you remember where it is. Danny

DannyB ,............are you talking about Bannantyne near 6th or Desmarchais ( I think),,,,,,,  I did think of that one up there ,but was trying to think of pool halls or places with tables,..... Incidentally was it 18 tables on Verdun ? with I think ,only two of them were 5 x 10's.......the rest were the snooker tables 6 x 12.

Les, You are right about the bowling allee. I am not sure about the tables but it sounds close. Now you can go in the poolhall and there is live entertainment and beer and all the hard drinks as well. At least is was like that a few years back. We had to sneek our beer in when we wanted a beer. And beer was not what was going on back in the 60's & 70's in the pool hall. Or it was not a problem then. Times are a changing. Danny

Les I still have my Pong game. I will have to take it out and challenge my son to a fast game of pong. He'll still be laughing when he is 21. But it was hightech stuff. Danny

So basically it's a bar now.......Entertainment & Beer,(Geeez We didn't get to school often, before those enticements.................hahahahahah and your right about the 60's ,.....I seem to Remember more than a few 'inspections' by the local gendarmes......................Rarely did they leave with a 'customer'.............hahahahahahah
