Verdun Hockey
Hey johnnyO The Grads Which year did they start?Did they take over from the Verdun Maple Leaves?
I am not sure when the Grads began. But I remember hearing about them when i was still in Bantam. The Leafs were a junior team as far as I know and the Grads were midget so the Grads didnt take over from the Leafs unless there was a midget level of Leafs that I dont recall. Speaking of the Leafs. I remember going to the Aud to watch a many of their games. I also remember watching the baby Habs (Junior Canadians) when Bobby Orr would come to town on the Oshawa Generals back then. JohnnyO
Well tomorrow afternoon at the Auditorium , will be watching my grandson in a Atom hockey tournament, will let you know what it looks like inside , sorry no pictures as not to good with a camera , JImmy
That would be great Jimmy. I visited Verdun a couple of years ago and went by the Auditorium but I couldn't get in so I'd love to hear if it looks anywhere the same as it was. My Nephew plays hockey for Point Claire and again when I was there they were playing Verdun. So I wanted to go to the game but I was disapointed that they played in Point Claire and and not the Auditorium. I wasnt sure which team to root for though. I was disapointed to see the Stadium is gone, but I guess thats so called progress. I never liked the reclaimed land project either covering ole Torchy Warf and leaving the boad walk at such a distance from the rivers edge. JohnnyO
