I guess you never forget your roots. I met this
fellow here in north bay who also grew up in Verdun. It's funny we had never met
before I had moved here.

He probably means the sense of pride and fierce loyalty that Verdunites feel in matters that are important to them.
Lynn. I have to agree with you about finding this site. Once again I will give the credit to my wonderful niece for telling me about Verdun Connections. She is also a member. Thanks Connie!!!! Also Maggie is correct, about the loyalty, our hearts that ache with pride and the wonderful memories of growing up in Verdun. As we grow older, we tend to forget about some of the not to good things that might have happened, but, and I say BUT, to most of us they don't matter. We put them away, if we chose to, and lock them up, and throw away the key. What helps to keep us "young" and contented, are the memories each of us share. It could be the river, the boardwalk, the avenues, school, church, long lost love, or a "naughty" comment now and then. Sabby, is this turning into a novel? I know this is long...but I just love this site...and the people on here are so very special. I am a very emotional guy, and as I type this, I have tears in my eyes because of my gratitude for everyone on here. Thanks. Winston Allison

Winston: I remember one of the first times meeting Billie and a bunch of the family got together. We all cried when we saw each other and cried when we were leaving. I remember her saying.........wow, do you Allison's cry at everything. Well Billie, you are definitely an Allison yourself now LOL
Thanks Connie. You got me crying again. Hope all is well in Calgary. We have a cold spell here, but at least we are able to get out of the house this time. Love you. "Uncle" Winston
