A bus in Victoria, B.C.
Hi Les !
You originally posted this photo on 16/12/2006
Is the Victoria bus 8007 on Douglas Street ? what is the intersection ?
I’m now a member of the Canadian Public Transportation Discussion Board
hello JMH,.Tha intersection would be Yates & Douglas Streets,...........the main street in Victoria, Funny you ask me that today,.as yesterday I took a bus in Victoira for the first time (30years),..and it was one of those double decker types, it was only two dollars, interesting ,they are a very large bus indeed,.I may do it again one day,& I will try to Remember to bring my camera,..........
Hello JMH,....Have a look at this picture from quite a few years back,...it is the same intersection in Victoria that is in that old picture you saved,.....if you look,at the building on the corner it's the same old Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank),.....and as you can see there was a good tram system here in Victoria many years ago,.....and on the radio today they were discussing the possibilites of having a new rail type transit to service te city again,......(it will never happen) cause as you know Politicians are like Diapers, and need to be changed ,often for the same Reason,.....Every few years rapid transit gets discussed,....and nothing happensI'll try to find some more transit type photo's for you to share on your new transit site,......Although I would guess you have seen most of the sites out there..........
Thank you Les for all the infos. As to your photo of the bus 8007 in Victoria, can you tell me the route ? (fairly easy !) The old bus I posted after is also easy to recognize (route and make of the bus).
Hi JMH I just noticed that the picture didn't make it into the message ,it is the same interesection that you referred to in that picture you posted of mine from a while back,.......Here I will try this again,....as you can recognizes the Bank of Nova Scotia in the background,........I was certain I had posted this yesterday & it did display,......but I can't find it here today,...So I hope this one works,.....Compare it to that Picture of today's Bus on Douglas Street,...........Incidentally you can check out all of Victoria's Bus Routes on the BC Transit site http://www.bctransit.com/regions/vic/ You can look up under Schedules and you will be able to see the exact route of this #11 Bus in the photo you posted,...
Hi Guessed the first one as St.Patrick steet and then figured no maybe more near Butler going toward Centre.Or is that down near Charlevoix. Its the train bridge throwing me off a bit... Lad

JM ~ I got the picture from a brochure/pamphlet that I have. Don't know what happened when I scanned it. The brochure is called "Remember Montreal's Streetcars!" from 1971 and is a publication of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association. There's 44 pages of streetcars of every sort. A very interesting publication. Thanks.
Mom45 ..........I think that is a publication that I have been looking for,....Save that one,...I might visit my buddy up there this summer,as I've been invited to see his new escape on East Thurlow Island,...........apperently there's a Lake on East Thurlow,.......and he has a cottage on it,.....or something like that./.but a quick escape to town, whether that be Courtenay ,.....or Comox,....might be in order ,and perhaps you & yours would meet us ,....(your buying,..and We can't Stay more than a Month)................hahahahahahah
JMH here's another shot of Douglas Street Victoria Bc...........the building way at the back on the right is the HBC (the Bay Building)the clock tower on the left is the City Hall,..........I have posted pics of it before (modern pics ) .............Here's one I took last week,........
Sorry JMH for some reason it wouldn't allow me to input the picture I took last week,..i took a few for you ,of the intersection we spoke about a while back,......and I also got on one of the Double Decker's and took a picture from there too,.....Once the glitches stop on MSN,.maybe I'll have better success,....but right now I'm getting an 'error' reading when trying to post a separate photo,..............I'll work on it.....
