The Irish
Bono is at a U2 concert in Ireland when he asks the audience for
some quiet. Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his
hands.
Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the
microphone..."Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."
A voice from near the front of the audience pierces the
silence..."Fookin stop doing it then!"

Maybe it's just me, but I think this would be a great joke if it weren't for the fact that a dying child in Africa is not funny. Regards, Jack
Could have been worse ,it could have been Michael Richards in the front row at the concert, answering Bono,.............................
Or could have been Madonna or Angelina 'big lips' yelling "Give 'em to me and I'll adopt them". I guess it's really not funny, but I'm a big believer in CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME. This continent has enough people, old and young, who are hungry, homeless, sick and dying.....let's do something for them. Cheers.
Good one, Les! Linda, your reply brings to mind something that is attributed to Mother Teresa, but Im not sure of the exact quote. When asked how we could bring peace to the world, she said something like, Be nice. If everyone would turn around and help the person beside them, we would have less problems in the world. Now that might seem to be overly simplistic, but I can't think of a better answer. And maybe that's what we need more of in this complicated world of oursâcompassion and simplicity. Have a nice evening, Everyone, Jack
That is true Help someone (without being asked),,,and you don't have to go to another continent to do it..........Good Idea Reminds though of the Guy who says "Can you help me out " and the other guy says "Sure" , "Which Way did You Come in " hahahahahahaha ......and some advice from my oldman (more an observation than advice) he always said "If you ever need a helping hand........... -----Look Down at the End of Your Arm"....... .......and one more from a BallCap I have that says : --The Best Way to Get on Your Feet--- is to Get off Your A$$-------- hahahahahaha ...........................See I told ya.......didn't beleive me did you..........hahahaha
Just remember one thing. Helping the person beside you does not get very much publicity. Go to another country, meet that countries president, have a bunch of overfed, overpaid, people with the most expensive cameras you can buy, driving some of the most expensive SUV's....and guess what????? Gee whiz, these people are really doing such a wonderful thing. B.S. To parphrase....In as much as you do it to the least of these, you do it unto me!!!!! There are many people in our communities that do something nice for someone or at some organization that hardly anyone knows about, but do sometimes get a pat on the back, or a thank you for your help comment. It would be nice if being nice is all it takes, what a wonderful world this would be. We can be thankful every day, even for the smallest kindness. Someone holding a door open for you, maybe allowing someone into the traffic lane, when you don't have to, waving a thank you to that person. I for one, say thank you every day for each of you on this site, and sit in amazement with the time and effort spent responding to each other, putting up pictures. The time and effort I can assure you is not wasted. We are truely blessed. SO....If I forget to say thank you more often, it is not because I am not thankful. Thanks everyone. Winston Allison
Yup Thanks is a good word....................... so is Merci Beaucoup........ ......................................................................... Winston,
Talking about the Irish, I have traced my ancestors back to the beginning of the 1800s. My first generation was named John Slevan married to Mary White who were married in Ireland. They set up in the St Augustin, Co. Deux Montagnes area. Another group of Irish set up in St Colomban wich is north of St Augustin. This is a never ending hobby and has become an obsession with me but it is a nice activity for retired persons. It keeps your mind busy wich is very important in your old age along with physical activity. They even say it retards or fights Alzeimer desease. Guy
That's a nice response, Winnie. Thank you, Jack
Love the photo, Les. And how true! Jack
