Old photo challenges of VC: Elmhurst Dairy cows and Tramway Bldg
Photo challenges not yet resolved:
1) A photo of the 3d Cows from the old Elmhurst Dairy on Upper Lachine Rd.
2) A photo the Tramway bldg at 3980 Wellington (built in 1927, demolished in 1997-98), Verdun.
Hi JMH ,..there must be a picture of the Tramway Building around somewhere,.if it was still there in1997,......is this the building that was right beside a bank (can't Remember what bank) or could it have been used by a bank ?
Hi Les ! All the infos I got (the dates) were from Lovell’s The Tramway bldg was at 3980 while the Bank of Montreal was at 4026 Wellington. Their impressive architectures were very similar. ***************** Photo of 3980 Wellington today: (Lunetterie Farhat) ***************** Photo of 4026 Wellington today: (Centre informatique Auberge communautaire) JM
Maybe this is the photo you are looking for? I have copied and pasted the accompanying information. Hi Maggie ! Thanks for your 1953 post of Wellington St. The bldg I’m looking for is on the opposite side of the street: 3980 Wellington. Have a nice day ! JM
Is that the location of Woolworth's then? This building is similar to the style of the pharmacy in your post and the building to the left resembles the bank style. I do remember a similar building on the corner next to Woolworth's (The Dollar Store now) though. Any other thoughts on this?
Hi Maggie ! Here is a list of addresses on Wellington in 1953 (from Lovell’s): You will notice: 3980: MTCom Power House 4026: Bank of Montreal 4049: Woolworth F. W. Co 4073: Banque Canadienne Nationale (Sorry, not easy to read) JM
