Canadian Election
To bad..we here in Canada do not get to vote for the prime minister....
You know John, I think we do. I think when we vote for a party it has more to do with the leader than the party. Brian Mulroney was a powerful orator and debater which swept the Conservative party into office. When Chretien was getting bad ratings from the polls they changed the leader to Martin and it kept the party in power a little longer. When Harper proved himself in the polls and debates the Conservatives got in again. I've spoken to Canadians who don't know who their member of Parliament is but they know who is Prime Minister. The one thing we have is that bad leaders can be changed between elections. It's interesting that Americans separated from England because they had no representation and only the King had all the power. Today George Bush has an almost King like status for eight years.
