Hi...I was told about this site from my sister. Reading all of the posts about Verdun was awesome. I often think about when I grew up there and all the fun times I had. I was born in 1953 and moved from there in 1964. We lived at 786 3rd avenue. Lazure is my name. I had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Peter, Michael,Ernie, Patrick,Quinton, Toni, and Judy...I am Sandra. I am sure not to many people would remember me as I was the youngest of the bunch, and a tomboy.
Not to long ago my mother passed and in her guestbook in the Gazette there was a name of Winston Allison who remembered Peter. I forwarded the guest book to Peter so he could read it as he is not to computer savvy. I didn't hear back from him...but if Winston Allison is in here I can hook him up with Peter's email address.
Thank for all of the great memories...
Sandra

Hi sammie, I remember you. We played together in the lane. I lived way down the other end at 626. I think the Tracy family lived upstairs from you. We had sort of a fort under your shed. Danny
Hi Danny, Soo tell me what did we play in the back lane??? loll. No to sure if I remember I will need more info..last name..who we played with. I have a few pics of when I was little..I will post them. I remember the back lane really well as that was sort of our playing area when we wern't at the park playing baseball. The Tracey's name doesn't ring a bell....don't forget I was only 11 when I moved from there. I use to play with the boy next door..we became really good friends...his name is Yves Deslaurier he had a brother ( omg must be a senior moment) can't get a grip on the name. I remember the store right across the street...penny candy...5 ju jubs for a penny...single scoop for a nickle...6oz soda for 6 cents. Playing outside the front..in the winter..and using the gates as goal posts for street hockey. Wow..I wish I was a kid again...I wouldn't change a thing. Sandra aka sammie
Hi sammie, I played very carefully with the girl with five brothers all much much bigger than I. Things like hide and seek. Do you remember Ronald Murray. My last name is Biggs. Gerald Vardon also played with us. I believe Peter Brown on occasion. Joyce Glover, Tishy Woodings, There was also Kenny ???? can't seem to remember his last name, he had a serious blood disorder and a very rare blood type and was very sick. there was a few others that were around on occasion that were a little older like Jimmy Wattie. Do you remember the mat night fires in the middle of the road on 3rd ave. Danny
DannyB,.......You sure have a good memory,........your better than Schwartzenegger,.....with your Total Recall................hahahah' Mat Night Fires,.......and soem of the names you just mentioned,.all part of that Verdun History.........great stuff,........and Sammie seems to have some recall too..........can't wait to hear some more recollections,...............Glad to see you pop in ,.........Murray,Brown, Glover,Wattie............Good stuff DannyB......................Can't wait ,for a BS Session ,one of these days ,Lavy's would be good .......
Hi Les, how are things. I try to keep up with the posts but it is hard to find the time. You more than likely knew Kenny also. I am having a senior moment with his name. He has since passed on but he was a regular around the Hole and also the Pit and all the other hot spots in the late 60's and 70's. I have to make a call or two or I will not sleep until I find out his name. At least I still can remember that I forgot his last name or I would be in real trouble. Then again I would be able to sleep because I would have forgot that I had forgotten to remember his name. Vicious circle.
i beleive his last name was Maskell
Hi Katkal2, No it wasn't Kenny Maskell. He is also a friend of mine from way back when. He also played in that same laneway and hung out at all the same places back in the 60's and 70's as I did. The Kenny I was talking about was Kenny Arsenal ( not sure of the spelling ). Danny
Hi Danny...sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. Now you have to remember I was only a little fart back then..not to good a remembering a whole bunch..BUT...lolll I do remember Joyce Glover!!!...she was a classic...I had moved from Brossard back in 99 or 00 as my hubby was working in Ville La Salle so we moved closer to his work...I was in the office paying my rent when this tall LOUD woman came in to talk with the secretary...I was with my youngest daughter at the time....I looked at her...(knew the voice as soon as she opened her mouth) and said to my daughter oh my god..they let ghetto in here....Joyce looked at me and said "what" I said you don't remember me? She took a second look and said..oh for F*** Sake Sandra is that you??? Well let me tell ya...she hasn't changed one bit. She has 3 girls and a boy...the youngest girl is a hell raiser...one daughter was at that time about to get married to a guy ...way way her senior...another daughter was in jail....She is still the same. But at the same time it was good to see her again...we talked about old times and had some great laughs...As for some of the other names you have mentioned....ummmm not to sure..maybe Toni would know...I used to play baseball with Yves Deslaurier..who lived next door to me..and Serge Rivest in the next block. I remember Cathline McRory...she use to teach me tap dancing...Linda Lee..another tomboy...Darlene Head.. One person i always think of is Alex Hay..we were in the same class at Bannantyne school...One of the fastest runners I have ever seen loll He also had a brother...name I can't remember...Do you remember the store across the street from us...and yes I do remember matt night....I also loved firecracker night when all my Uncles woudl come over and stick crackers under our butts...lol Up stairs from em i remember Mickey Walsh...he used to chase after me with his teeth out...YECK....and My cousins lived up there also...Murray..Faye..and Carolanne Johns. No sure if the Vardons were related as their grandmother was a vardon. Give me time..I will remember you..expecially if we were in the back shed ..and speaking of the back shed..do you remember a boy named Phillip?? Sammie

Hi Sammie....I knew your cousins Carolanne, Murray and Faye Johns when they lived on Angers Street in Cote St. Paul in the 50's and 60's. I lived next door to them. I keep in touch with Moe Vardon and his wife Pat. What a small world. Carolanne lives in Plattsburg, N.Y. Dianne
Hi Sammie,.........I laughed when you mentioned Linda Lee (Lindy) she lived a few doors down from me ,when I lived on Wellington St ,....she had several brothers too,.....Donald comes to mind: Tomboy (ok that's accurate)......hahahah She was a tough gal,.that could play any sport, hockey ,football,...baseball.......etc etc ......I can Remember ,her playing in the schoolyard of the French school on Galt) ,......We always used that yard winter or summer,as it was just down the lane from us, You mentioned a few names I recall,.......and gave me a good laugh to Recall this crew.........hahahahaha. Btw: the MacArthur family lived alongside us too,.........there Dad Les worked with one of our members Jim (kungfu),a small world indeed.................................... Thanks for the Input............................
Hi Sandra, I know you don't remember me, (ruth)but I used to sit on your front gallery when I was just a kid of 5,and chat with you. You probably remember my brother frank broniszewski from 846 3rd.I remember once you gave me a wooden casanet, red and blue. I thought that was just great! I remember playing with tony glover in the back lane, joyce was too old for me.. but one time tony almost tryed to set my hair on fire..odd guy. I use to also play with phillip roy, and shirley arsenal, kenny's sister. shirley and I went to school together.I met up with kenny years later towards the late '70ties, and if I remember correctly he had been shot in the leg. I don't remember why something wants me to say for attempted robbery, he was in bad shape, haven't seen anyone now for years.
Sandra..........You mean Besides Danny??..........I thought you had a thing for Budsy in the shed..........LOLOL.
Hi Sammie, I had a similiar experience with Joyce about 7-8 years ago. I was at a party and the person giviving the party's cousin came in with his spouse at that time. and I was sitting having a beer in the kitchen and this voice from the past came screeching down the hall and into the kitchen. I did not know who owned it only that it was very familiar. Then she come through the door and said Holy f... ! Danny is that you. After what must have been at least 30 years. We had a laugh or two over the past and maybe another beer or two. I remember the name Yves and Cathline McRory. My friends and I play a bad trick on her. She was always willing to beat up the boys or at least chase us. I don't remember Phillip but I do remember the shed.
mmmmmmmmmmmm.......Now I'm curious.......What was Sandra doing in that shed????? Danny You have a Sister Darlene?? I do remember the name Biggs..So seems like as I was Playing my so called sister Sandra was playing in the sheds with guys????
Hi Harleygirlny11, Yes I do have a sister named Darlene we lived at 626 3rd on the same side of the street as you in the last building at the laneway near Verdun. And as I said in the past you don't mess with a girl that has 5 brothers that are much bigger than I. Right Sammie.

Harleygirl. I was asking the same thing about Sandra. I just think it was probably for educational reasons. That is my guess. What say you Sandra girl, EH?????? Winston Allison

Well it is 6:40pm, Jan 2nd, in Vancouver, Washington. What happened. A whole year went by. Talk about time travel. Left here in 2006 and came back in 2007. I must have had a good time. Having the driveway paved with fools gold. Left the kids inheritance in Vegas baby... It is like they say.."What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". I can testify to that. Had a great time. Everyone dressed up for New Years Eve. Going to the shows. Talk about silicon valley!!!!! I didn't realize there was that much skin in the whole world. My eyes are still hurting.......from not blinking. I was afraid I would miss something. Ah well....beauty is in the eye of the beholder....And I sure was beholding I will tell you. Hope everyone is ready for a good 2007. I see the ladies are off to a good start....letting us in on their little (HA.....YA RIGHT!!!!) fantasies..... I was just wondering if they
are planning a get together at the MONUMENT OF THE MAGNIFICENT ONE!!!!!! and that is not to say the least. Happy New Year's evryone!!!!! Winston Allison
