One of the Good Things About Hawaii | Down Power Pole Shuts Road for Hours | Hi
Pole Replaced, Kamehameha Highway Back Open Written by KGMB9 News - news@kgmb9.com Monday, November 12, 2007 11:37 PM
Kamehameha Highway is back open near Waimea Bay Beach Park after the top of a power pole snapped and hit a car.
The accident happened just before 7 p.m. The pole cracked the windshield, broke a mirror and left several scratches and dents. The two women inside were not injured.
Police shut down the road at 10:45 p.m. Monday so crews could clean up the mess and plant a new pole. A contra-flow was opened just before 5 a.m. to accommodate rush hour traffic and the entire road was re-opened before 7:30 a.m.
Hawaiian Electric says about 300 homes and businesses were initially affected. Power was restored at 1 a.m. The pole also carries cable and phone lines.
No word on what caused the pole to break. Last Updated ( T

Must have been a slow news day, Bill. Or maybe nothing really exciting happens there. Well they are laid back, aren't they?????
That is what is fantastic about living in the country.
Bill
We're all thankful you're okay, Bill. I read the article, but it didn't say what caused the pole to come down. Do you know? Jack
No word yet.
