As a follow up to my previous posting of the orgiinal "Rocket" tramway in Montreal, I found the enclosed article at the SHGV yesterday which should interest all Verdunites who used them during their heyday.

Guy, Thanks for a very interesting articule about streetcars in Verdun. Unfortunately, I never saw or rode on a streetcar in Verdun, or Montreal. I was born in Laval West in 1954, and moved to NDG in 1960, then to Verdun in 1961 I believe. When I saw your subject title ''Electric Trains in Verdun'' it brought back a memory of the huge collection of model trains that Wolfe Cycle used to sell, especially the ''Triang'' brand. I have had many model railroad layouts in my life, and still consider this to be a great hobby.(I don't have one anymore however). My Dad still has quite a bit of HO scale trains, etc. Ralph.

Electric trains alos brought images of model railroads to me. I never had a nice set of HO trains, but I used to dream about owning a set of Triang trains. I must have collected all sorts of catalogues when I was a kid. I used to look at them and dream of my own set.
Je m'excuse , Guy...I know it wasn't model trains you wrote about, but it just set offf that trigger in me like it did in MPU.

Ralph, You were age 5 when the streetcars stopped in Montreal. Do you think you were ever on a streetcar and just don't remember it? From age 2 to 5 we lived on Manning Avenue. I can remember riding the Wellington 58, getting on the back door of that green streetcar. My love of trolley cars had to have started with those Wellington 58 rides. Montreal had one hell of a streetcar system. It should never have been dismantled-Walter
Walter, I doubt if I was ever on a Montreal streetcar, because I only moved into the city in 1960. When I was in Toronto in November I did a lot of walking, and I stopped and stared at every streetcar that went by, but never hopped on one. Ralph.

Hello again Guy ,........another link dealing with Montreal railways',....Electric & otherwise,......this is a list of available books on the subject,.....complete with ISBN #'s ,......and Titles as well as authours,............these may provide some other obscure type facts,..or tidbits of information,....... certainly allot of these books would be more readily available to you from your local library's,..........many of them I would have to request from the library here,.on an Inter-Library loan,.....I would be reluctant to order a book only to find it not what I expected,......but since alot of these may be in library's in Montreal.////those would be more easily accessed by yourself....with the obvious contacts you have,.........Good Luck,.....I hope it proves to be of some value & interest --Have Fun & Remember Verdun--

Ralph, On your next Toronto visit try and hop on a Queen Street streetcar going west to the Humber Loop. You'll get a great view of Toronto's High Park & Lake Ontario-Walter

Hi Walter ! Yes, a lot of snow in the City of Saguenay (Winter in the Saguenay is 2 months longer as compared to Montreal, but less humidity).
