Also Eatons 'gave' every kid that rode on the train a gift from Santa,....and then they had those line up to go up and tell Santa what you wanted for Christmas,..........a lot of kids who grew up in Montreal (and area) ,.made the annual trek to see the parade,.and watch Santa climb upthe ladder onto the mezannine,.....into Eaton's,.....I can't recall what the gifts were,..but they were important in those days..........

Wasnt the shop for kids called the Red Basket?  I loved to ride the train - .25 cents - I think that my sister got a vinyl little purse with Pumpkinhead on it - it was red and she loved that thing.

Hey Bob, How well I remember walking along St. Catherine St. from Ogilvy's
to Morgan's, & checking all the windows. As the years went by they became
more & more the "Highlight" of our Montreal experience.......Even in the
cold we'd walk or rather stroll along just being dazzeled, by all that we
could take in....I imagine that the different departments that were in
charge of these windows, were secretly competing with one another, & the
only ones who benefitted were us, the public......What a wonderful time,
those times were....By the way, do they still do their windows, that is the
stores that are left?
