Bannantyne School
Maggie,
This is the building that replaced the old Bannantyne School wich you attended. The building across the street where I lived in the 30s, 40s and 50s was also replaced with a similar building.
My friend lived across from Bannantyne school also, her family lived on the Gordon/Bannantyne corner. Bottom flat. Thanks for the picture (amazing how they design almost everything to fit the surroundings.
My friend, Phylis Potter also lived in those apartments (bottome floor). I always felt priviledged to go to her place for lunch. It was a lot shorter than the walk to LaSalle and Willibrord!
I lived at 836 Galt for a few years until Spring 1979. I moved to BC shortly before the apartment building across the street from the school burned. My husband, at that time, was still living in the flat on Galt. When I heard about the fire all I knew was that it was a building at the corner of Galt and Bannantyne. It was a scary time. I remember being awakened by the very loud bell going off in the middle of the night from inside of the school. This happened quite frequently. I don't remember if the school was still occupied as a school at that time. I really enjoy seeing pictures that everyone posts. I haven't been back to Montreal since I left that Spring. Kitsch

Kitsch, The building that caught fire facing your address of 836 Galt would be the building I lived in namely, 857 Galt, from 1936 to app. 1955. I have photos taken in front of the building on my picture site. Guy

Hi Maggie, If you are still intouch with Phylis, say hi to her for me. I have not seen her in many years. We had a few friends in common. Danny
Sorry Danny, I am not in touch with Phyllis either.

How can i see your photos?
Kitsch
Hi Les,
Thanks for the re-welcome :)
I do have some old photos that I could scan and post. I'll see what I can find and then I'll drag out my scanner.
I sometimes wish that I wasn't so far from Verdun so that I could attend one of the reunions, or just wander the city. I have many fond memories.
