Re. Remembering Verdun
Hi Chuck
You mentioned a Harry Hurst and it rang a bell. I think I worked for him at Turnbull Elevator many years ago. Am I correct on that, and very happy to hear that your therapy is going well. Take care Noble, Your's in the Faith, Bob Archibald
Hi Bob, yep Harry was a mechanic for Turnbull, he was also a great welterwieght boxer, fighting the likes of Jonny Greco and Pell Mell, he beat them at the old coliseium in montreal and got robbed,, his Brother Billy Hurst used to teach boxing at the Kinsmen club in Verdun ChcukCatto
If my memory serves me well , Harry Hurst went for a snooze at lunch hour , he was working on elevators at University of Montreal and never woke up , what a great and beautiful human being he was Jimmy
Does anyone remember the Verdun Piston Poppers car club?. I was one of the original members along with Harry Issacson, Russell Dade, Pat McKeefry, Bob Malone and Lorne Richardson. We couldn't join the RPM,s (Rod Pushers Montreal) so we started our own. I was asked to leave the club as I was caught one to many times burning rubber with my 49 Merc coupe, outside Kosta's, but I still have my plaque. What great memories. Bob Archibald
I certainly will scan that plate and I also still have my jacket crest which I'll scan as well. But at the present time my scanner is not hooked up but when it is I will do that. Take care, Bob Archibald
