Now that you mention it I remember going to dances at the "Rec" with Nancy McCallum and her boyfriend (whom she married) Rene Lavoie.
Oh yes the dances at thr Rec. They were fun. I use to go to the dances in the Point and see if I could pick up any new dances and then show the gang at the rec. Lots of fun, And Now I remember your face pomolive.
I also remember the dances at the Dawson's Boys and Girls club and at the Church (St. Thomas Moor )It was all the same gang and it was the only place to be. I remember that LIKE YOUNG crew (TV show )came to Dawson's and did a show out of there.

Hi Everybody, The Rec, lots of good times at the dances it was the place to be. Many people met their first girlfriend or boyfriend there. Their first kiss on the stairs in the entrance. Their first toke on the stairs of the Church. And many many other things for the first time in or in the general area of the Rec. Dannyb
Right on Danny it was a really good place to hang out . And you were right on about all the FRIST's
Speaking of the Rec. I use to play in one of the bands there. The band was called " The Cycles" or; " The Cycle Generation". The guys in the band were Gerry Pucci, Michael Pucci, Ronnie Colligan and Jimmy McCalloch. Hope you guys remember us. It was one of the best times I had in my life. After the dance we would go to Jacques and have some hot-dogs and play the pin-ball machine. Anyone remember???
I think anyone who grew up in Verdun in the 60's ( assuming we grew up) would have had to have gone to the dances at "the Rec"....."Dawsons"......Lasalle Blvd 'Y' ............St Willibrord.....VCH.........etc etc............I recognize the name Ronnie Colligan as well , we went to school..(or didn't) at VCH......How you doing Gerry.....this is cheaper than me paying the phone bill.....hahahahah say hi to Mike for me .......& if you see Mr Colligan say hello
Liked those guys, Ronnie was pretty cool, but that Pucci was a nerdy looking guy though. hahahahaha
Gerry
Our group, the Alabaster Villa often played those various places. Brings back some terrific memories.
