Hello Verdun>.. recently sent my hockey bio to the pointe site,,since i recruited heavy out of Verdun, i guess you guys should have it as well
1960- 71 Boston BRUIN SCOUT, worked for Otis Elevator during the day, and the bruins at night recruiting talent, first player i signed under the old sponsorship was Gilles Marotte, then Bernie Parent, Jean Pronovost, Bobby Lalonde, Phil Myre, and Dan Bouchard, also recruited Verdunite Brian Elwell for Syracuse e.h.l., he's still living in Syracuse NY.
1971-72 California Golden Seals N.H.L. Director of Player Personel, and G.M. of the Columbus seals of the I.H.L., drafted former Verdun Juvenile hockey player Craig Patrick, for the parent team and signed former Verdun Grad Jimmy Bartlett for Columbus.
Quit California Hated Charley O Finley, joined the WHA set up yhe very first draft for the new league evaluated 476 players for the draft, in Anehein, helped Bill Hunter draft for the Alberta Oilers, now the Edmonton Oilers, went off to Cleveland when they entered the league and put that franchize to gether player wise thatis
1973-74 Lured back to the NHL, by the St. loius Blues signed as Gm, got fired end of year, and returned to the WHA, to put the Indianapolis Racers together.
Along the way coached teams in Drumheller Alberta, Jrs, Utica Mohawks of the EHL and ended up coaching the Verdun Leafs of the Quebec Sr League
In a brief I should have stayed with Otis Elevator, I loved that job, and the guys I worked with Chuck Catto

Chuck. I now live in Syracuse, and see Brian Elwell often. In fact, you might know some of my other buddies....Gary Butler, Donnie Meehan, Kevin Prendergast, etc.. A few of us ex Verduners used to host a golf tourney in Toronto each year called the Verdun Memorial Golf Tournament. Initially, we hosted the tourney in memory of Ron Lapointe (Les Nordiques) and Wayne Gallea, both ex of Verdun, and over the 6 7 years of the tourrney we donated approx. $75K to the Children's Wish Foundation. Always a great day/evening, with lots of "old Verduner's" attending. Another name you might recognize is Bobby O'Reilly, who lives in Utica, NY, about 40 minutes from here and whom I also see often. Was Verdun a great place to grow up, or what??
