Sandy ~ I remember my mom using peanut butter, massaging and rubbing it into the wad of gum, then slowly combing it out with a 'cootie' comb ~~ just kind of slid of the hair.

Linda. I remember those small boxes of chicklets. @ to a box. Also the regular size with 12 in them. They still have them down here in Vancouver, Washington. There are just some many brands around today.....

because you are allowed to smoke
at 12 years old.
you feel cool
that your freinds aren't allowed to smoke
but you can.
verdun sure has tons and tons of stories
endless.

mom1945-linda MSN said...

metalman This is funny ~~~ but not really.  You mentioned sharing the cost of a pack of smokes with a friend....bet some people might think that would be a good practice in this day and age....what with the cost of a pack today.   I really did a double take the other day when a guy in the next line up to me bought a carton of ciggies.....$80ish + tax......wheewwwww.

metalman108 MSN said...

two fellows that work with me, get those smokes
from the indian smoke factory??
the cigs come in a clear plastic bag, a carton
for 15 dollars.
big business out here on ottawa and montreal.
get them anywere that's what they tell me.
i just kicked the guy out of the motel room smoking?
told him smoke that stuff outside, i think its -22 c
outside.
something about those native smokes they sure
smell weird and strong??
maybe they are 10 times worst that the real stuff
hell knows.

mom1945-linda MSN said...

Yes, I think you can get them a lot cheaper through Indian connections.  Of course, there's always the five finger discount also.  Geez you'd think I was a salesperson for cheap ciggies!

edbro68 MSN said...

I can remember when a flat fifty of players was fifty cents no tax. That was before I was old enough to smoke. We bought them for my grandmother for Christmas. i didn't know that buying her cigarettes was helping to kill her. When I found out later I bought them for my mother-in-law. Ed

happydi2 MSN said...

Ed you are a laugh a minute!!!   I watched my mother die from throat cancer and she smoke for 60 odd years. It was a horrible slow death. I am so thankful I never took up smoking.   Dianne

Metalman you got me thinking of some of the things
that were so important to us in those days. Mustang bikes with those handlebars
up near your ears with the bannana seat.
My pea jacket that I was so proud of that I
wore it when it was 90 degrees. My levis jeans, My frist pair of bell bottoms
that I wore to the Rec dance. Desert Boots. Root shoes that made you feel that
you were walking uphill all day. The list could go on for ever.

those bikes are back in style, even choppers
back then i took my mom's kitchen chrome
table legs.
with some hand tools, hammer, drill, visecrip's
two bolts.
you get those easy rider look front end on your
bike.

remember we get new jeans, get some javel
bleach, and the bottom part of those pants
the color is gone?

beatle boots, with those little chains.
on st catherine street back then
they had reitto shoe store, and others
that made your boots to fit your foot.
they made them potatoe toe boots
watching joe cocker back then he wore
blue potatoe toe boots.
the next day i was at reitto
getting him to make me a pair of
the same boots joe cocker had.
yea i had blue potatoe toe boots.
those shoe shops are gone now

When I was younger (!), whenever I frequented (!) nightspots, I made sure there was a dance floor, or else we'd find somewhere else to go.  Yup, I'm a dancer, and if there's nobody to dance with....I dance alone.....or dance with my sister as she's a dancer also.  My other half, well, he's not really a dancer, but he tries and I go along with him.

happydi2 MSN said...

Linda that is why I  fall in love with my husband it is because he is a great dancer and we love to jive.   Dancing is great exercise....fun! and I know there is a third thing but I can't remember what it is!!!!   LOL!! Dianne

Hi All   Just thought you would all like this one..I was just in the mall and in the HMV store.Checking out the old timers on CD.Two sales girls were talking about one of their friends who was pissed off because her boyfriend got a lap dance somewhere. So one of the girls goes on to tell the other one that they were out one night and her boyfriend got one and pretty soon the whole group was up and dancing...men and women...lap dances and all...she said it was a great time...She used the word "wild". Now bear in mind this is Ontario....WHERE do you think she was talking about?? She finished up by saying here it is too strict and you could not do that here but over there......   Brought me right back home... True story   Lad
