THANKS for stopping by, I do my best to acknowledge when someone leaves a comment, you do not have to be a member here & everyone is welcome.
Ps: This site is monitored but not actively posting on a regular basis. Mostly these are stories & some photos saved from a defunct site known as Verdun Connections which was on MSN Groups initially then on a social network called Multiply.
Steve, I got the same e-mail and I replied asking them why should they give me such a large amount of money simply out of their generosity and of course I never got a reply. Guy
I have been receiving "Nigerian letters" and a few of these Lottery letters for the last few weeks. I average at least one a day. If it were all legit, I'd be a billionaire by now and all of us Verdunites and former Verdunites could retire!!
We received via email another scam....this one says we'll inherit a sum of money because a family died in an Alaskan airlines crashed and left no next of kin....the usual nonsense.
Anyhow, we reported this one to the RCMP and they gave us this phone number 1-888-495-8501, where you can report scams. They gave us this site www.recol.ca and wafl@phonebusters.com On these sites there is a lot of info and you can report frauds etc.
Good Morning Everyone, I'm bumping this topic to the top because HappyDi2 has listed websites and phone numbers to report banking scams, frauds, etc. The quicker we report these scam (scum) artists when we receive their e-mails the better protected we become online. Maybe one day they'll realize its just not worth the effort if they know they'll get caught within hours of sending those scams. BTW.........my Inbox has been 99% free of these scams since I've started to report them diligently. Have a good weekend and Have Fun & Remember Verdun! Mac.
Mac...the more we report these scams the better it will be for all, sure it's easier to just hit delete but that's the same as turning a blind eye if you see something bad happening outside or where ever....glad you remembered the phone number and the site...Dianne
These letters are well written, and to the unsuspecting, would think it is real. The one major flaw is the amount of money they are give to the "lucky" ones. The almost 2 million pounds, and the 35 million from Nigeria? hahahaha. What a crock. Mike
Mike. The shame is not that these scam are sent out on a daily basis to millions of people, but that some of these people are either so greedy, so ignorant, or what I think is very sad, that these people may be so lonely, that any attention they get, must be genuine. We read in the newspaper that people have lost their life savings. Also that they actually go to these countries to try to get the money. I think if more sites like VC existed, that maybe some of these poor people would not be victimized. There but for the grace of God, go some of us? Winston Allison
