CKVL and DJ Beth Manley (c. '56)
Does anybody know anything about Beth Manley? She was an overnight DJ at CKVL, which used to be on Gordon Street and was bilingual.
Hi Scramblebuggy, Great story on Beth Manley of CKVL. Funny thing is I was asking if anyone remembered The Montreal Herald a couple of weeks ago. I can't say I remember Beth Manley. I remember the Friday & Saturday overnight CKVL request and dedication show. I forget the DJ's name, around 1960 the CKVL overnight DJ was Sid Ross. I always listened to CKVL over night on Friday & Saturday. Weekday nights I liked listening to 1540am WPTR Albany, New York which got a signal into Montreal most evenings when the sun went down. WPTR's overnight guy was Phil Day. The promos would say "Spend your nights with day, Phil Day overnights on WPTR!" I really enjoyed your Beth Manley story. Thanks-Walter
Hi scrambblebuggy,.Welocme tothe site BTW,.......and Thanks for posting that CKVL link ,very interesting, Beth Manley was ahead of her time it seems: also Thanks for posting so quickly after joining,.it makes it easier for us to determine which is a 'spybot' or real folk,...........hahahah Thanks Again & Enjoy the VerdunConnections site: :Have Fun & Remember Verdun"
