The lumberyard that was situated on Gordon between Verdun and Bannantyne was Wilfred Leduc Lumber. It was at 675 Gordon near Verdun. This information comes from Robert Genest, previously of W.H. Genest Lumber Ltd whom we celebrated his 75th birthday yesterday.

Magnans was Charlevois at the Corner of St Patrick on the north west side of the street.  We stopped into Magnans on our last trip to Montreal. The restaurant now faces a park or green space.

That's Charlevoix and St Patrick and the tavern is Magnan. I put that eating spot on my blacklist since the time the waiter complained that his tip was not big enough.   Guy

Hi Guy,   If you have blacklisted Magnan's try the Capri just down St. Patrick's one block - on the corner of LaPrairie, I think.  A better nostalgic atmosphere in there anyways, and most of the food is as good if not better than Magnan's.  Last time I was in the Capri about a month ago, the beer was cold, pates de porc were great, and the service was excellent.    Ray
