Faded Photographs
Hey NavyBob, why don't you add that great photo of your parents to the Faded Photographs Album in the Pictures section. That way people can still view it long after your message gets lost way back there.
Hello MaggieMck,.....I think it looks like the bridge in Quebec City......Here a shot (more recent) that shows another newer bridge in the foreground, but the shape of that bridge in the background looks pretty close........ .........Sorry 'bout the ship in the way........Great photos MaggieMck.......I love the rink pic......Have Fun & Remember Verdun
Hello MaggieMck......here's a better shot ..... ......and Here's a link telling you a bit about it's History..... http://www.rtsq.qc.ca/quebec/dc019.htm chaeck it oput if you like........ Have Fun & Remember Verdun
Here's what it looked like the first time they put it up....... ......it seems it collapsed twice....here's a link telling that story as well http://www.engr.mun.ca/~cdaley/1000/QuebecBridgeFailure.htm oddly enough on of the dates of the center span collasping was Sept 11.......
Hi MaggieMcK ! The outside skating rink: was it located just west of the Auditorium ? In what year the photo was taken ? If my memory serves me right, the little houses behind were fishing houses; they were parked in the area before being placed on the river. Is that assumption right ? JM
Hi JM, I would have to ask my mom about the exact location of the rink. Here is what was written on the back of it (as I desciphered it). Outside at the auditorium J. Guaya (sp?) & ?? feb. 1950
Re: the hockey rink pic: My recolection of the rink is, it was on the west side of the Aud, as in the early 50's the east side of the Aud was still being used as a dump. Art
