Hi everybody I'm back from my Ottawa trip.....and I do know you lovely lovely people took real good care of my beloved snowbabies while I was away ...The bus trip was wonderful and quick. just a tad over 2 hrs... the hotel was great and right in the center of town...started off at resturant Biggs for lunch and then off walking over to mayward market. to do some sightseeing.lots to see and do. I went to two art museums. two crystal gallerys..then back to the hotel to change and off to HARD ROCK CAFE.. to have supper and dance the night away....yum yum woke thurs, to try out those ""beaver tails" I had seen the day before. yes indeed. beaver tails it was for my breakfast,,,lol...... then walked to see a few museums. the "royal mint museum"........ the "war museum".. and a guide tour of parliment....and my way back after weres I spotted a book store and you guessed it bought myself 4 mystery books...back to the hotel. changed and off I went again. this time to a resturant "highlands"..were all the waitresses/waiters were in kilts.........then hmm yup yup I went to hooters,lol...tried out a drink called "purple haze'.......hey it was good! after again walking throu ,around. all of the mayward market area.........Friday I was planning on spending it in Ottawa but with all the rain.......,well..without an umbrella cut the day shorter then planned.and headed home.I arrived here just about the supper hr....and ordered out " resturant Scores". ""'ribs""..........lol,lol I think with all this eating I put on 3 lbs..hahahha! but then again with the amount of walking I did. I might get lucky and have it all even itself out.............Ginny

Hi Bim. and yes indeed that ottawa slinky bus is the very first time I have ever seen anything like the looks of that for a city bus.I have never seen one in montreal
well gin they arrive and depart every15 minutes during rush hour from bonaventure downtown and on the half hour during non rush hours bim
lol.lol and that's why I have never seen one. since I have been up here in Laval 15 yrs. lolI bet the slinky buses weren't running 15 yrs ago,,Just about the only time I would be d/town is during the summer months. and for sure not down on dorchester/rene levesque. when I go d/town it's on St. Catherine... thanks for the infor.might just take a gander for them during the summer.
``FOR THE INFO OF ALL SO CALLED "SLINKY BUSES" ARE IN FACT "ARTICULATED
VEHICLES".
I EXPECT THIS WILL GET SOMETHING GOING.
TONY
They have these buses in toronto too, but they found that snow/salt reduced the life expentency of the articulated knuckle in half, very expensive to fix and or repair. They have been all taken off the road. Gerry
Acordian.......Articulated.....lol,lol I still like my "slinky bus "name better, hahahaha!
Those buses are still running in Brampton and
Mississauga,and other parts of Toronto.
The Pav was the best place to hang out and eat
their fries, salami burgers. I still make the salami burgers.salami
bought from the Biftec Resturant in Toronto, only
place to get Montreal Salami.
Does anybody remember Bob Davies singing at the Cavendish?
Margo
margo,i remember bob davis, did'nt he write the gordie
howe song (gordie howe was the greatest of them all.i hung out at the
cavendish every friday and saturday nite with donnie thompson, len yates and
brian mullensand donnies brother willy thompson.
Yes he did and my kids have the original one, after
he wrote this one he had to change the words but
we still have the original. If you hung around there
then you must be just a little younger than me.
Margo
margo,i just turned 61 so it was in the late fifties and
early sixties that i hung arond at the cave, use to always sit upstairs.lots
of great memories, when the 1 &2 club opened in the pointe we started to go
there all the time it was a little closer.
