Wonder where these folks are today?
Anyone know or ever hear from these folks who also hung out at Kostas around 1958 to whenever? Nora Wozniak...Billy Tainge...Gail Vokey ?
bombog2004, Rick Carlin didn't have a brother, he was an only child. Johnny Norris lives in Collingwood and you can reach Rick on Classmates.com. Hope this is helpful. Junebug
Hi, junebug61133 and rainy day man 44! Thanks, junebug61133, I'll check that out. Rainy day man: John may have had a brother, I'm not sure. When I worked in steamships, in the customs department was a man whom I believe was his father. Regards, Members, Jack
Hi, multipurposeutensil: No, I didn't. But then again, given my family historyâI was a foster kid, and only later on in life found my birth parents and all my siblings except for twoâwe may be related somewhere down the line. Thanks for asking, Jack
Hi Jack.. I noticed you have your age as 200 yrs old....you must have said your prayers alot to live this long??? The only brother I have is Wayne..... what years did you visit Kostas.? I noticed most times when I read a message and check the members age, most people seem to shy away from listing their age...hummmm...wonder why that is....... as for myself,I can't wait for that first old age pension cheque next year!! lol cookie
Hi, cookie3773! See what the power of prayer can do? My son says I'm so old I fart dust. It's cautious not to reveal too much private info over the Net, because that info could be used for fraud, identity theft, you name it, especially when publishing your true name and age. Just with that, I don't think it'd be too difficult for a hacker to get more info regarding someone. As for years when I visited Kostas', I think it would have been '57 and '58. For any writers and/or grammarians out there, here's a correction to my posting to junebug61133. The last part of the sentence When I worked in steamships, in the customs department was a man whom I believe was his father" should read, was a man who I believe was his father. The subject of the verb "was" is "man"âa man who was his father, I believe. "I believe" is intervening parenthetically; therefore, "whom" is incorrect. By the way, cookie3773, you're a year and half closer to getting your pension than I am. Regards to all, Jack
Hi Jack.....thanks for the info on a possible fraud with posting your age, etc. I tried to EDIT MY PROFILE but it won't allow me too......not sure why??Do you? cookie
Rainy day man 44. Yes Johnny did have a younger brother named Peter. He also had an older brother named Ted and an older sister named Beverley. Junebug
No, I don't know, either. I, too, have been trying to change my profile with the "Edit my profile" option, so I could wipe out that "200" or change it to "Undisclosed."
But every time I try, I get the following message: "This contact does not have a profile or you do not have permission to view it."
Just doesn't make sense at all. Oh well, such is life . . . and computers.
Hi bombog2004,..and Cookie,..and anyone who has tried to edit their profile,....It seems that msn changed something along the way,...because at one time you could 'open' the 'edit my profile' at any time,.and change whatever,....but for some reason this does not work it seems for anyone ,......Why.......Who Knows.........hahahaha It doesn't make any sense,.....it seems that only when joining or signing up for msn,...thtat any info can be inputed in that section,...(I don't understand it either) Why even have an 'Edit my Profile' button,if you cannot edit your profile.............hahahah,.......but the word "SNAFU" seems to really apply to most of the workings of msn network,................Remember the word from the Trivial Pursuit Game,.................. but at least so far we can all still communicate,& connect as it were, through the posted messages,........( I wonder for how long) have fun & Remember Verdun
Hi, Les F: Nothing says it better than SNAFU! I was first introduced to computers when I started working in the rate department at Maislin's in the late 70s. We also had a word for computers thenâFRED: the "F" word I can't say, but the remainder is "rotten electronic device." Computers, glitches, edit buttons that don't work, etc. To me, I don't think things have changed that much. Regards, all!
bombog,......as they say the more things change the more things stay the same...........hahahahah , we just get to experience the same glitches and be able to share the info faster,....hahaha .......have fun & Remember Verdun is Maislin's still in trucking,...or I seem to recall they are gone ,..are they,......i would Imagine that property on Newman Blvd ,...would have been worth a fortune,........and didn't I read somewhere that when one of the Cotroni (business men ) were still around , that one was affiliated with the trucking company,...or given a high level title /positon,.with the firm??
Hi synergize,.............you did a fine job of 'walking te fence' there........hahahaha but I would imagine it's all just heresay,....and any seemingly connection between a mythical organisation,...and big business,.......is merely 'coincidental' hahahahah .............Whadya think, and we never knew of any type of illicit activity ,in Montreal did we? surley not in the Night Club Business,...or corrupt political pay offs,...or trucking,...or on the waterfront with shipping,...or people on the take,........Naw simply just a coincidental appearance of ,what may be construed by 'some' as criminal activity..........hahahaha .................................................Have Fun & Remember Verdun
No, Maislin's went belly-up in the summer of 1983. But Morrie Maislin, one of Sammy's sons, is head of Maisliner Transport. The international trucking company is located on Dollard Street in LaSalle. I could be wrong about this, but I believe Morrie is the only Maislin in transport.
Sorry, but I don't know anything about a Cotroni being involved with the bankrupt Maislin Transport.
Hi Bombog,........yes I see a company named 'Maisliner' at 2555 Dollard in Lasalle http://www.maisliner.com/ as for Google search for cotroni & trucking ,it mentions ties with other trucking outfits,......but not maislin,.....i thought I had read that (or heard it ) via the papers (Star/Gazette) back in the mid to late 70's,......but I cannot find any direct referance to that,.......Montreal did have a lot of different trucking co.'s,......I'll keep looking..............hahahaha ..............................................................................................................hf&rv
Hello I guess this is for Cookie. Gail Vokey is living in Burlington Ontario. She is in great health and ornary as every. Just kidding. I am her brother Bob. I now live in Carlsbad Calif. I will be visiting her in early Sept. Thanks for the inquiry. I know she will be jazzed. Bye and best wishes
Hello Gord I do not know a Penny Vokey. Although , I believe that we are all related.in some way, the name originally comes from Newfoundland . My Dad was from Lachine. I went to Woodland , Bannantyne, Riverview and VHS. Of course this was way back in the late fourties to the mid fifties. I will ask my sister Gail , she was a few years younger than me. Thank you for the note. Bob Vokey
Hey Boomdog; I worked at Maisliner (that's what they're called now). I was there from 2001-2004. Do you know Don B? He worked for Maislin for many years before they went bankrupt! And Les, I still refer to computers as FRED! Cause they are..... Brenda
Hi Everyone, in reference to Maisliner, Morrie and Allan restarted the company around 12 years ago. When I left the new Maisliner, Allan was chairman of the board, they were up to 120 people. J.J.-Allan's son was running the company. Now I believe, it's J.J.'s sister that is in charge and he's a C.E.O. Allan is still involved and I heard that Morrie retired or was planning to this year. There are a few cousins that work there as well. Lucio, worked also for them. One of their sales rep's is Jean ?Perron? (Stanley Cup coach of the Habs at one point). Brenda
Hi Bob: I've actually got a photo from my Grade 5 class at Woodland School from 1960. Some of the names are fuzzy, especially the three Davids, two Pennys and two Marys. One last stab - how about a Mary Vokey instead of Penny. Gord Gibbons
Hi, bettylooca, Sorry for taking this long to answer you. Believe it or not, I only noticed your postings this week reviewing some of the old messages. I was briefly without internet access in May, so maybe that's why I missed them. Yes, I do know a Don B. from Maislin if he worked in the rate department. I didn't know that Allan was involved in Masliner. I thought it was only Morrie, whom I've met twice in Tim Hortons on Notre Dame Street. By the way, are you related to the Walshes who used to live on Melrose Avenue in the 50s and 60s? Jack
Hi habfan,.that was a good line by Joe Pesci, from the movie,."Goodfellas" I had to read back to the beginning of the thread to get what you were talking about. hahahaha, the old maislin referance,at the start of the thread.. I'm amused,...hahaha HF&RV
Hey Jack; yup, that is the same Don B. I'll be seeing him this weekend. We're going to meet up with another old friend who's in from Saskatoon. He's camping in Long Sault. Did ya want me to say hello from you? Oh, and sorry, I am not related to the Walsh's on Melrose. I was from the Bronx in LaSalle. Yalk to you soon. Brenda

Hi Sweet&Gorgeous Terry showed up one at my place on Willibrord. Said he just came back from N.B. Hung around for awhile and then took off again. Said he was married or something like that and it failed. Couple of years later shows up again. He had met and was dating a teacher from VHS. I met her and it was true. They came over to house a few times.Maybe some one out there knew her. Her was first name was Robin. Can't think of the last name. Think it started with F. They chaperoned dances together at school. Lad
Hi all I'm still trying to locate Brenda Davidson. VHS Class of 58. Lived on Manning, I believe, between Verdun and Bannantyne. Went out with Dave Clark in High School. I think someone said they knew her at Norhtern Electric. She is registered class of 58 on classmates.. I thought it was strange that her name showed up on classmates 2 days after I first asked about her on VC. ( Could classmates be using VC to generate business??)

Hi Lad, when I was typing the message about Mike, I was trying for the life of me to remember his friends name who became the president of the teamsters union. Finally remember it is Andy Boyle. What ever happened to him.Anyone know? Wendy
Hey, does anyone know what ever happened to Lynn McKracken and Ilene Morrow. They were both good friends at VHS and were prefexes(sp) .Would've graduated in 72. Wendy

I don't know, sir. The Walshes lived right across the street from me on Melrose Avenue.
