Mashed Patatoes
Hey Dianne2, I mean does anyone remember the Girl from Verdun, who was
called Mash Patatoes as a pseudonym,or Nickname, I believe Slick gave her
this name way back when.....He came to only one Dance, saw her Dance & knew
he was out of his league, & went immediately back to working on Cars, Hot
Rods I do believe, in a little Garage on Verdun Av. across from St.
Willibrod's School, & near an old Undertaker's Salon??????...I foret the
Name of the Salon......However, this Girl, who is of course by now a WOMAN,
was really able to "Pick em up & lay em down".......The name "Mashed
Patatoes" stuck to her for quite a while........Anyone remember her???????
Norman

Sorry Norman, I have no idea who you mean. Asked my husband Paul who lived in Crawford Park until 1970 and ran the Y dances on LaSalle Blvd in the 60's and he says he has no idea either....Dianne

Dianne. Have to ask about your husband and the Y. Our band, Alabaster Villa, used to play there quite often during that time, and I am wondering who your husband might be. Glen
Glen...my husband is Paul Nowlan, from Foch Street. He and Brian Conolly were the DJ's. He doesn't remember any live bands during his time there. ....dianne

Hi Sandy:
Brian Connolly dated Margaret {Peggy} back in the 60's and they were both friends with my husband Paul. Brian in 1969 entered the priesthood but after a few years he left and married . His wife passed away about 5 years ago and he has since remarried. Peggy married a Brit, Bob Reardon [?] and they divorced and she remarried a German chap and we stayed in touch with her for awhile, but mid 70's lost touch as we moved here to N.S. But we are still in touch with Brian and his family....It's a small world...Dianne

Hi Sandy:
I have no idea where Peggy is today. The last time we saw her was in 73/74 on one of our visits to Montreal from N.S. By that time she had married the German guy and they move to Eastern Ontario around Alexandria/Lancaster area. They had a baby and soon after she wrote to us saying she left him. When we visited we felt that she wasn't happy. She was a lovely girl, too bad she had so much unhappiness. She married young, her kids, Sharon and Jay were in school in 1970 when Paul and I married. They have to be 40 years old.
We don't know Shayne, does he live down this way?
Yes it is amazing how life unfolds and who you may meet along the way....Dianne
Hi Norman,
When you referred to "Slick" do you mean Michael Frost? He was an NHRA
official and was a part owner in a race shop in Verdun called Speed
Engineering.
Regards,
Alan
