You all know that we all read everything thats published here, even though
we may not comment on the topics.....The very first time I ever ate Pizza
was at Trevi Pizza on Church Av. I don't think the owners even knew how to
speak good English in those days......We were uptown at the Esquire on
Stanley St. & Ronnie Duynes said lets go for some Pizza, so we all jumped
into his Daddy's 1959 Powder Blue Mercury, & he drove us to this Pizza
Parlour, which was of course Trevi's Pizza....I told him that I had never,
ever tasted Pizza, & he asked me if I was from another World....But you have
to know that Pizza hadn't come out as far as LaSalle at that time & I didn't
have any exposure to this kind of food before......I didn't think that I
would eat any, but, went along anyway....I must tell you that since then the
only Pizza I have ever tasted, which I consider "Top of the Line", is Trevi
Pizza........
Btw..I always thought that Swartz's Smoked Meat, was the World's Best....But
I found out about Smoke Meat Pete's on Ile Perot, just this side of
Montreal, & I haven't been back on St. Lawrence Blvd. since tasting Smoke
Meat Pete's....It is the World's Greatest as far as I'm concerned....This of
course is simply one Man's opinion......Hey do you like the term I
used....Btw.....Being from LaSalle we pick up so
fast.....lol...ha..ha..ha....

Hi synergize, I know all about Smoke Meat Pete's in lle Perot. I agree with you , it is the best smoke meat ever. I was home to verdun in 2002, my brother took me to smoke meat Pete's and we had lunch. I was back there again in 2004 and brought home toVictoria with me 5 slabs of his smoke meat, so my husband and I can enjoy it whenever we want. HF and RV wendyjo
MPU. About remembering the first time!!!!! My question always was. "Do ya, or don't ya?????????Will ya or won't ya?????? Just joking ladies........ Winston
Steve, At the time that I hung out in my hometown, their wasn't even a
Restaurant on the corner of 8th Av. & LaSalle, in the Bronx. I remember that
we had a Tombola, that came every year sponsered by The Knights of Columbus
I believe........
Later in the 60'S a restaurant called Adams that sold Smoked Meat, was
opened on the corner of 4th Av. & LaSalle Blvd.......I realize that a lot of
Restaurants were on the corner of 8th Av. & LaSalle, including a Banquet
Hall, if I'm not mistaken....You must be correct, in your recollection of
these particular Restaurants........After they closed the Beach, & the
Tombola, didn't come back, we simply stopped going their...But, we did from
time to time go to Adams, although it wasn't really a hangout.......

Thank you so very much for the web page to all the slang words used on the
web.....It would take me years to put all of this in my memory bank....But,
I will look these things up in the future & not keep asking the same old
questions...Thanks again.....Les you appear to be quite remarkable in that,
You have lived a few lifetimes in this one......Keep up the good memories &
the stuff you tell us, I personally find it very entertaining........

I never said anything about 8th avenue. Steve
Woodland Restaurant......................always great pizza in my opinion, tonight I needed a ''retro-fix'', and it was worth it..................... medium all dressed with a coke....a slice of heaven!
From Atlantic Canada, I'm actually "drooling" & "crying" @ the same time looking at that picture! Earl.
Whenever I head up to Montreal (which is often) I always go to Woodland for a pizza. Still the best, in my opinion. Glen
Hey wheres the dough ball in the middle of the pizza ???????
Lorna, there have not been dough balls in years. My daughters used to take these plastic tables to play with their dolls with, and my daughters are now 19 & 23. mpu
We have the pizza as our desktop background now.......ohhhh my god we cant see the screen for the drooooolllllllll.....lol
Know what you're feeling Lorna. Maybe you shouldn't torture yourself so much, lol. Gonna get my fix tomorrow. yummmm
Sorry if I caused so much pain/pleasure with my pizza photo.........................................................the pizza was soooooooo good though(sorry again)mpu
Ok the Photo is gone as my desktop i couldnt stand it,by the way thanks for the memories.
Lorna look............. Steve haha

Betty, I have not been to Red Lobster in years, as we do not have them anymore in QC. Is there one in Cornwall? Last Wednesday evening I drove to Cornwall to see my wife, and we ate at Magnolias on Vincent Massey Drive near the Days Inn. It was an excellent meal. For breakfast I had a Tim Horton's coffee and a cinammon roll, and bought gas at Esso for 88.5/litre. The price of gas around Montreal now can be as high as 105.5/litre..........highway robbery!!!!!!! m.p.u.

We tried Bruyeres but at 8;00pm they were just closing, a very slow night apparently. My wife has tried just about every resto in Cornwall I think, and also speaks highly of the Quinn's Inn just above the 401. Another rest. that I have enjoyed is Casa Paulo. I probably will not be going back until Valentines, and my wife has a place in mind, but still unknown to me! Can you recommend a Chinese place in Cornwall? As far as Red Lobster goes, my Sister and her husband moved back to Ottawa last fall from BC, and we have yet to visit them, so when we do, Red Lobster it will be!!!!!!! mpu

Betty, nothing elite about me. I left Longueuil Wednesday at 5:50pm and after fighting quite a bit with blowing snow and very high winds, arrived in Cornwall at 7:40pm, so the time it took me to get my stuff into the hotel, and for my wife and I to leave, 8:00pm was rather good I think. Thanks for the info on the Chinese and Quinn's Inn, I hope to try both on future visits. I was just on the phone with my Sister in Ottawa, and told her about my plan's for Red Lobster someday (soon I hope). Thanks again, Betty, and good night, Ralph aka m.p.u.
Ok, this has to be my last posting tonight.........................everybody remembers this place, even if it is only because of my posting a few days ago............ mine was a medium all dressed at $14.50 and worth every cent.!!!!!!!!!!!!! good night, Ralph, m.p.u.

Betty, thanks for the info. Have tried Duluths, very good. My wife stays at the Best Western so I know the ''Peppermill'' very well. The food is excellent but a bit $$$. The in-room menu is also surprisingly good. St.Hubert BBQ of course is St.Hubert BBQ, what more can be said. Looking forward to trying more, but in the winter, I don't go to Cornwall as often as I did in the summer and fall. Have a nice day. m.p.u.
