Les_F If you stop and think about it. When we were growing up in Verdun, people were having more kids. It seemed like almost everyone had 5 kids or more. There of course were a lot that didn't But just in our block(833-835-837-839-841-843 3rd avenue) there were a total of 27 kids, and 10 adults. Nowadays people have decided not to have big families. . Hi Wiinnie,let us not forget the PILL. Where would we be today without it. I am a friend of Maureen McManus from 3rd avd .She said to say hello,Winston.She was a good friend of your family. I remember being at your house on day when it was raining. We came out after visiting with your mom and I stood on the top outside stair,said let's go and promptly proceeded to slide all the way down to the street. I had forgotten I was wearing moccasins and you know what happens with leather in the rain. Having survived the fall with a few injuries (the most being my pride) I was very careful with those shoes in the future. Anyway Hi to you and i must tell you that reading the messages on this site really brings back memories to me. Most are good but there are a few bad ones too.Ciao PS I live in Rawdon Quebec
Hi Winston, Is it any wonder why Santa had no presaents left for the families at the south end of Third Avenue. I asked my wife Maureen if she could name all the families and she did without hesitation. So Verdun Connections helps keep the old memory going. We enjoy your "discussions". The reason that no one is having large families today is two-fold: first, having kids is expensive; second there is birth control--you don't have to have a huge family.
When we were young (I'm pushing 50) you could raise a family on one income; today it can be a struggle with both parents working.

I live in a small town just north of Toronto. My husband and I have been married for 38 years and we are fortunate to be able to live in Arizona in the winter. We love to play golf and enjoy traveling. I am still in touch with Earlene MacDonald and a few other friends from Verdun. Judy Brown was the person who referred me to this site and I am enjoying lots of the memories.
Thelma is on the internet from time to time but I'm not sure if she is aware of this site. I will definetely pass along the information and hope that she will contact you. It's good to hear from you.
Hi Winston..I was an NDG girl moved there from Verdun when I was 2..but had alot of family in Verdun so hung around there alot..Still have many friends from there. I was famillar with 3rd Ave. as I was best friends with Eleanor Cater who lives in BC..we email each other once in a while..also were the Featherstones..the MacDonalds many others..(Earlene whom is married to Sammy Shulmann) I went to Italy with them last Oct) we all worked together in the Northern . To GARY MACE...Hi Solo..I went into the 2 sites you posted ..Doo-Wop..what a great 30 mins. I spent there...It was like reliving my life..It actually choked me up with good and sad memories the couple dancing ..the girl with blonde ponytail, pink poodle skirt and the dark ducktailed guy..reminds me of George and I at around 15 to 17 ..I think I related to everything there..milk bottles, poodle skirts, I was part of it all.. I bought every Hit Parade book there was..knew every word to every song..Boy nothing will ever compare to the "50" ...The only thing is I can get into the 2 sites from Verdun Con. clicking onto them..but when I try to get there from search I cannot find them..Have a great day and thnks for all the great pic's Audrey
