Re: Re: A Tale of Two Houses

I emailed Ed at his email address, and he was very graciuos in responding to my meassage. I think he is a good man, and probably a better man than I am.

You know Winnie, I don't see this as a political thing at all.

I simply believe that what Al Gore is saying is true. To hell with his house, we simply cannot ignore the things he is saying. There are changes happening in the weather patterns. We cannot say Katrina never happened. Earthquakes, sunamis are more frequent and severe. Here in Verdun, people are saying, "This is crazy, mid April and we still have snow."

The great glaciers are melting. Can we deny this. The reason I mention Bush is because he and Cheney are the loudest saying there is nothing wrong. Probably Bush and Gore are both acting for political reasons but that cannot change the seriousness of the message. I felt that posting that piece about his house only detracts from what we should be paying attention to. In retrospect it smells more Karl Rove than Bush.

I'm sorry if I rub people the wrong way by pointing this out but I am shocked at the lack of interest people seem to have in the future of our world.

Anyway as far as I'm concerned the rant never happened. I'm sorry if I upset you, I certainly did not set out to hurt anyone. No apology needed, i've been called worse before and often by myself. I felt it better to leave the site because I have so much happening what with the course I will be teaching at McGill starting next Monday and problems some of our parishioners have that have landed in my lap. Perhaps my overloading has made me short tempered.  Ed

P.S. If you wish to post this go ahead.                Ed

Ed. You are right. Someone should be allowed to make a statement without being persecuted for it. My only problem was you bringing up The Bush name, because some conservative group said something about polution, global warming, carbon released into the air, or whatever, when Bush had nothing to do with it. I will admit, I did get carried away. I normally don't go off the deep end like that, but will admit that I did. But for you to leave Verdun Connections because of that does not do anything to make either one of us feel good. Some people on here called me on it, and they have every right to, and should have. I find no fault in that at all. My reaction was not a win/lose proposition, but just a overreaction on my part. If you do not stay on here, those that are left on here will be the loser because of you not being here. Now to put it into plain english. Am I an
asshole? Yes at times I can be...but I am still trying not to be, most of the time. Ed you say you have had discussion off of VC, and have made some new friends. Can you at least give me that benefit of a chance. Again, I apologize for hurting your feelings, and admit, that once again, I need to think more, and say less.

Ya know Winnie, the Evangelists believe that no matter what we do about global warming, it won't help. They say according to the Bible we are living in the last days anyway and weather changes are just predictions coming true. If they're right what we think won't matter much anyway will it. Ed
