The list of participating canadian cities is big. With all the different time zones it should be a wave of darkness moving over the earth. Maybe NASA will record the event? We'll be having a movie night. A few candles to light the way.

Hi all, I signed up this morning without any problem from an email that esurance sent us. My 15 yr.old son said they've been talking in school today about the months of energy that can be saved with this one hour event, if everybody in the world participates. I'm looking forward to see what happens. Wendy
I've already started, & want to show you guys a few pics from around my house:.........practicing for Saturday Night and of course this one : ,,,then there's the computer/office room the basement & the garage & guestroom ..........and the ....Well you get the picture ( don't you??)hahaha am I saving the planet yet (maybe from faded clothing................................................) Next week were going to have Save the Water Month & Noone can flush their toilets for a month.......yea ,can't I just stop beating a seal over the head ,to do my part........Yikes !!!! HF&RV ( when the river was polluted...it isn't anymore .guess were going backwards)

I plan on being in a remote area of the Allegheny Forest in Pa., it will be easy for us to comply since we'll be in a peaceful, pristine, area without TV to distract us. What a great idea for Earth Day and I wonder what the power companies would do if more than fifty percent of their customers complied?
Absolutely John. Candle light for an hour might be fun. I believe I have a few aromaic candles somewhere. It sure made a difference down under last year.
Wonderful place....my cousin lives on the Highland-Kane Road just south of Lamont and his property abuts the National Forest...I've made many hikes into the forest from there. You should try and go to the Tionesta Forest, an old growth area... http://www.nrs.fs.fed.us/rna/pa/allegheny/tionesta/

I am really looking forward to this trip coming up in april but I think the true meaning of this thread, and correct me if I'm wrong Bill, is that turning your lights off for one hour to save the planet is patently absurd. We need to cut back on our energy useage substantially in order to have an effect on CO2 emmissions from power plants. It is estimated that we will have to cut back by 80% by the year 2050 in order to hold back tremendous catastrophies due to climate change. That being said the Allegheny forest sure looks good to me next month.
Boy was I off on this whole movement, I just watched the video and realized that the event takes place tommorrow, the 29th of March, my birthday. What a thrill for me to have this environmental action event occur on my special day. I guess this means I'll be a hopeful enviro forever. I would encourage all MEBA members to watch the video and join in on the very symbolic event of turning your light switches off, better yet turn everything off.
