Don't see the pictures Roy,.are they in a photo album? I looked through most of the albums ,but don't see them,. Looks like a lot of Ontario got the storm too ,as well as Montreal..............I heard on the weather channel the storm is now headed to the east-coast ( and they've had plenty this winter too)....................                                     hf&rv

Pretty much, except I did go home in Jan. for 1 wk. after 20 yrs. of not being there in the winter. Yikes, what a shock. I did enjoy the drive all along the lakeshore, but scraping the ice and snow ,and warming up the rental car really sucked. Wendy

Yup thats a pile of snow Roy,........again with the Yikes !!hahah ...................That's a nice looking pile of snow,....and it looks great ( when it's in someone elses yard),.....We've had some treats here on occasion,.and of course with no equipment to speak of we can be buried quickly ,.....Thankfully very rarely ,& is usually gone in a day or so..........Whew !!!    Thanks for the pictures Roy,.......                            HF&RV

Looks just perfect for jumping off the roof into the snow pile, like I used to do off the garage in the back lane on Melrose. Wendy

rtmoly MSN said...

I don't have to jump just walk out the back or front window. Will be glad when spring arrives

This is my first winter in Calgary.  Let me tell you it is hard!  I mean the temperature was 15 this afternoon.  We haven't really seen any snow for a month or so.

shirleyb-h MSN said...

YUP every day it is around 14c but I have a glass railing on my deck and light stucco so it was registering 21 the other day.  Two days in a row I sat outside on the deck in PJ's grooming my dogs.  Today was too windy and not much sign of the sun so I am down to one dog left to groom and I prefer to do it outside when I can.  I think that the temps are cooling off though for the rest of the week only 4 or 5 but then there is no more snow or ice on my very long wide driveway so it must be time for another dump. Nothing but brown grass everywhere I look.

I appreciate it. I would like to know if you or someone else can decipher the fleet number on that bus. (seems to be 22-321). Also the intersection at which the people are waiting for the bus. Thanks in advance, JM

bigfellow6633 MSN said...

I also get 22-321.

This is calgary after this morning's snow storm.  We recieved almost 2, yes that's right, 2 cm of the white stuff.  So different from the Verdun of my youth in winter.

Well guys, I feel sorry for you all who are having a rough winter this year. I, on the other hand, am not. Today was about 89, a little hot for this time of year. Hasn't been much of winter here at all. I only had to wear a light jacket 3 times in the morning this winter. Brrrrr. Wendy

les__f MSN said...

Ahh Wendy ,.not nice to rub it in,,,(sort of) we've got members living all over (from Cold to Warm & Hot places)........but as long as were complaining,.I had to pay $1.18 per litre,.to fill the conatainer for my Lawn Mower ,which I spent this morning doing,.....( I didn't need any sweater ,.as I was working up a sweat,.......but I am now watching the Hockey Game and having a cool one.............I can Remember putting less gas (dollar wise) in some of the cars I had,,,,,,,,,,,hahahaha ........................HF&RV

wendythepool MSN said...

Hey Les, I'm just saying!!!!! I know the gas prices suck. The lowest I could find today was $3.26 a gallon. We're planning a road trip this summer to Tn. and I know the gas will be higher by then. What can you do? Wendy

maggiemck MSN said...

I had to pay $115.9/litre this morning . Was a beautiful day at the ski hill! Spring is coming a little too fast for me!

les__f MSN said...

Maggie when you say Spring is coming too soon,.it  reminds me of saying to the old girlfriend (as the story goes) .............I'll see her in the Spring ,if we can get through the Mattress.......           hahahahha       HF&RV

Can't wait for spring to come.  The snow is pretty although I'm getting tired of it. This is what we sometimes do to enjoy the snow.

It looks like the East coast of Canada has been hit again with another Winter Storm,..so I would think they've just about had enough ,and probably wish this thread was 'After the Storm'   Remember when spring would arrive in Verdun when we were kids,..all the heavy coats & boots & winter stuff, was put away,.and light wind breakers ,came out of hiding,...the sun was always out for Easter ( ir so it seemed) .......sppeaking of Easter,..Remember Luara Secord, eggs the ones with te big yellow yolk,....Instant Cavaties for sure,......but they were good.!! ..................HF&RV

carver3570 MSN said...

Les. I just picked one up yesterday to give to a young person. They are now 150g  210 calories per 50g 1g protein.  Ron.

les__f MSN said...

hi Ron,..how much are those eggs with the yolks ,these days,.I seemt o Rememeber they were considered expensive when I was a kid,...( relative to all the other types of chocolate eggs) but i don't Remember how much they were,.but they sure lasted a long time,.cause even as a kid it was tough to eat a whole one of those in one sitting,.............Man they were sweet.......hahaha                                                                                    HF&RV

carver3570 MSN said...

Les. Seems to me I paid nearly $4. I don't have a bill. It was all I could do was to get out of the store without getting some for myself. Ron.

les__f MSN said...

Remember Ron if noone actually sees you eat one then it doesn't count................hahahahahah  I know what you mean ..hahaha                                                                                      HF&RV

carver3570 MSN said...

Les. I wonder if I shake them enough will all the calories fall off. I have great memories of Tassies (spl.) the restaurent corner of 5th and Wellington. They made something simillar they were large had to cut them with a knife.

carver3570 MSN said...

Les. I found the bill $5.99 +tx.  Ron.

Hey Les, I remember going to Laura Secords with Melrose Park in the summer to see how the candy was made. It was like that Lucille Ball scene, we were helping ourselves to the candy off the conveyor belts, eating some and putting a pile in a brown bag we were all given. I didn't feel too good on the bus ride back and by the time we got home all the chocolate had melted into one big ball. Those were the days. Wendy

les__f MSN said...

Wendy that one made me laugh,.cause I could immediately picture all you kids with this big chocolate mess on your hands (so to speak).............hahahahaha                           HF&RV Bus trips were always an adventure,.I Remember one in particular from Dawson's ,.to Plattsburgh ( I think) & the whole Bus was met by the NY State Troopers ,.minutes before we were scehduled to leave,......for many reasond the group was considered 'persona non grata' after having beeen on a 'Visiting Spree through Town'.................and we were only held up,from leaving cause we were still waiting for a couple of our group,to get back to the bus,.when they did show up ,.one of them who shall remain nameless,.was wearing about 15 hats piled high on his head................hahahahaha all of which were acquired at a considerable discount, from one of the shops in town,.and as luck would have it,not many on the bus ,had not recieved the same sort of discount from the various places in town.....hahahahaha   and the State Troopers came aboard and tried to re-locate the goods with their original owners......They were not entirely successful,.....but they also suggested in no uncertain terms that ,the whole group should leave their Great State ,Quickly,..and preferably Not plan any return trips to the area.............................hahahahahaha                   HF&RV

I saw Laura Secord Eggs at Sobey's/IGA here in Calgary - we used to get one of those eggs - they were so sweet that we used to keep it in the fridge and cut it with a knife - thin.  Then I discovered their chocolate eggs and even their peanut butter eggs - much nicer in my opinion.    I buy the solid Chocolate bunny's - Botticelli's in a purple tin at Co Op and Safeways and London Drugs here in Calgary - I grate it up for Capucchino's etc 100g for $4  or thereabouts - cheaper if you can find them after Easter - hahaha - but I always make sure to buy at least one full price.  Good for baking etc my husband eats his and I keep the tins - they would have made great tins for pencils and crayons etc - I put sewing notions in them.
