August 19 is a convienient date.Verdum Minor Football Association is having its 2006 season opening day. There will be Football games all day starting at 10 am in the morning and concluding with a game at 5 pm.All 4 Verdun Ticats teams, atom level thru bantam will be playing against the Laprairie Diablos teams at the newly renovated Arthur Therrien Park in Verduns East end next to the Champlain Bridge behind the Verdun General Hospital. So if you are in Town come support your old home towns Football Program. Football still lives in Verdun. It may not be Verdun Small Fry football as You once knew it in the 50's or 60's or Black and Gold of the 70's that you remember but we still sport the Black and Gold colours but play under the Tiger Cats name sake.If you have time on the agenda come see us play. Verdun Ti-Cats Peewee"AAA" CoachB!M HC
Will we see you at the reunion then Bim? Therrien pool is on my list of places to visit. Most of you "grew up" at the "Nat" but Therrien was my summer place!
There is that posibility Maggie I will be in Verdun that day.My peewee Ti-Cats play football at Therrien Park that afternoon at 2pm.I will have to re-read this forum for time and place.I think you might have trouble finding the pool.I think it was removed in all the renovations but there is a wadding pool and a skate park, bring your roller blades and yer skateboard, dont forget your helmet..Lotsa changes happening behind the General Hospital in Verdun. B!M
The Burrough of Verdun has Piscine Therrien listed in their public facilities. I assumed it was a swimming pool. I can also see it on Google Satellite Images. hmmmmmm. A mystery to be investigated. Be sure to check the link here for information about the reunion. It would be great to see you there! http://groups.msn.com/VerdunHighSchoolClassof76
The Therrien Pool is there in all it's glory just wet of the Aud. I swim there still. It has a convenient ramp for wheelchairs to enter the pool. Have you ever been run down by a speeding wheelchair underwater? I have. I still maintain she was doing 60. Ed
Hi John. I went to VHS during those years and would like very much to attend a reunion if they have one. I hope someone can let us know if it ever comes up. I also heard that someone was trying to get a Crawford Park School reunion. I'm up for both. I am now living in Kelowna BC , so would appreciate some kind of message on VC to let me, and anyone else living away from Montreal, know. Thanks Joyce Pedder
Hi joycie915,.......are you guys getting any snoke ,coming in from the manning park area ,or has it ttravelled that far,........You guys have had your share of Forest Fire Smoke to last a lifetime ,from a couple of years ago,.....but it is BC and it has been hot,.....Hopefully the weather will change for the fire fighters,..or at least have the wind die down,....... ....................I'm sure someone will post any infop re: reunions,of any type, involving Verdun........... HF&RV
Hi Again. Yes we have had a lot of smoke here in the valley, but the smoke is nothing like the fires of a few years ago . My friend came over the mountains from Vancouver on Friday and said it was hard to see and her eyes were burning. It is a very large fire, and no stop is in sight. Yesterday it was a little better, and from my condo I can see the mountains more clearly. Joyce
Speaking of reunions, whether School or just Verdun friends. I am willing to coordinate meetings of people coming to Verdun. If people let me know when they are planning vacations, I would compile a list and arrange meetings of those that are interested. It would be a shame to come here and find that someone you have been posting with for years was here at the same time and you might have got together for coffee. Ed edbrown@videotron.ca
HI Joyce Just read the messages....would love to have a Crawfordpark reunion...but i am not one to organize things.. hope someone does...i will be the first to join in..Ours days in Crawfordpark was precious. john
For sure this response is a bit late, however, am checking out this message board for the first time this evening. So to respond, yes, definitely I would attend if the St. Willibrord's class of 60 had a reunion. I would attend even if there was a reunion of several years together and not just the class of 60 as a matter of fact. Suzanne Smith
Hi Maggie ! I would love to attend a Reunion . To tell you the truth, I have never ever been to one due to the part I have never seen any advertising, or word of mouth, I think it would be terrific , especially if it was held in Verdun , I see some of them have been held in Toronto and other areas. Just let me know when , and where, I would have other members interested as well ! Maybe I was not a member of your Verdun connections either at those particular periods. I attended Verdun High School , graduated 1971 > Thanks Maggie ! Sweet_N_Gorgeous Anna
Guess there is no more talk about reunions..would love a reunion of Crawfordpark school.....i am sure there are many others also would like it..Does anyone remmember Mrs. Hamilton, or is that going to far back john
I would attend if I had good notice. Living in Alberta, would have to arrange to have my shifts to be covered at work, can not have one man patrols in our cruisers.(Alberta Gov. law,) B.S. but the law none the less. St.Willibroard 1965-1971 V.C.H.S. 1971-1976 Darren
Hi Anna-Cathy Wilkins here-I would love to see you again and even though I live in Kingston now,I would surely get to Verdun to see you and other VHS alumni!!! There's a few bed'n'Breakfast places there-so if anyone plans a reunion-let me know!
"Cause guys like Ed (71) and I (72) probably wouldn't know a soul. Seems like only those who went to high school in the 60's and 70's are interested in reunions.
Class of 1961. YES! YES! YES! I would love to come to a reunion. There are so many people I've thought about and wondered how they fared. This is a great site for connecting with long lost friends. Sadly, I haven't found any yet but I'm still trying! Come out, come out wherever you are. Dale Barwick
Daleb,..............I kind of Remember a company called Henderson & Barwickin Montreal,........would this have been a relation of yours? If you Post the names ,as they come to you of old friends you'd like to connect with again,..someone may know them,.and be able to put you in touch ???? Keep trying you will find old friends ,.We have a relatively large membership,.and many have joined in the last year ,.....so posting names ,.every so often may help find old schoolmates,.or neighbourhood friends,... Have Fun & Remember Verdun
Hi Maggie, Yes I would attend, and I'm pretty sure some of my friends that I still keep in touch with from High School would attend too. We went to V.C.H. and graduated in 1967(seems like eons ago!!!) B.F.N. Sharon
Don't get the idea that only recent graduates attend reunions. The last one I was at was class of '51-54. There was 40 people who meet every five years. I enjoyed the Maggies group of '76ers. Knowing everyone is not important. You'll quickly find a lot in common to talk about as well as people who knew people. Ed
sorry-me again-if it was in Montreal ....I would go ! I live in Kingston now but to let everyone here know-a cheap place for guys or girls OR a family room is at the old YWCA-stayed there a few times lately-$60 a night,a bit more for four people-they actually supply comfy cots for extra folks in your room, free!AND it's downtown, near Atwater....nice clean rooms and you can cook meals in the kitchen, internet access etc.A GREAT place!
