the only teacher that I could remember from my days at Bannantyne was Miss
Reeves (later Mrs. Johnson) although there was a teacher by the name of Miss
McNaughton who might be elated to me but I would need to know her first
name. By the way between 1971 and 1974 do you know who the principal,
vice-principal and secretary was? I don't remember who they were.

Hi again Margo! There is a photo of Miss McNaughton (Bessie) in an album titled "Bannantyne School" (in Pictures). She married my grandfather in 1960 and became Mrs. Lummis and later Mrs. Main. Grandma Bessie died in 1999.

Miss McNaughton's name was Bessie,  Her family had a farm and she would choose some young boys to go to work on the farm for the summer.  I had her in Grade five and she was also called Miss Point Off.  At the beginning of the month everyone received 100 points.  The child who had the most points at the end of the month got a prize.  If you misbehaved, she would just say "you, point off"!  My other teachers at Bannantyne School were, Miss Montague, Mrs. Forbes, Miss Cummings, Miss Zenos, Miss Farnsworth, Miss McNaughton, Miss McGlashan, and Miss Mather.  Miss Chew was our gym teacher and Miss Foote our music teacher. Mr. Laroque was the Principal. Miss Forester was the Home Ec. teacher.  Now that's a long time ago!

Hi Beverly,   That certainly was a long time ago. We shared most of the same teachers except for Grade 5 - Mr.Mulligan then went to Verdun High part way through the year and was replaced by Mrs. Denenburg. Grade 6 - Mr. Diver   Mr.Harrison was the Principal and then Mr.Laroque replaced him from Lasalle Model.   Miss Foote was an excellent music teacher and from other postings on the VC it seems she taught at quite a few other Verdun schools.   Thanks for reminding me of those teachers I could only remember back to Grade 5-7 and the kindergarten Miss Montague.   Hope you are well.   Reggie and Maureen Paine

Miss McGlashan later married Gus MacFarlane and Miss Forester's father was our family doctor.

Gus MacFarlane was our coach on the VHS senior team (picture on my V.C.
album 'Verdinites at Heart'). He was a tremendous coach. We all
respected him. He was a 'very' tough task master and push us to the
limits which payed off on the score boards.
Bill

I pray that my life may be deeply rooted in faith. I pray that I may
feel deeply secure.

Hi Margo !         In answer to your question, I attended Bannanytne School from the years 1960-1967, and I found that those were the greatest years of my life attending Bannantyne School, I still dream about that School. It has great memories for me. It is really great to see other people who remember the other names I had forgotten, and they do come back to me now , especially Mrs. Foote, I can still picture her today, I remember her coming around during the music class while we were singing , and tapping on my shoulder telling me I had a Beautiful Alto voice. Funny , how you remember such things ! I also remember Mr. Carr ( Yes )      One that really blew me away, and I do not remember who wrote the reply, but yes I do remember Mr. Darseault , how can I forget him, Carol Browne, and I use to walk with him to his home, and he was the nicest gentle teacher, ( I also remember when he would get mad and frustrated, the kids would laugh at him, I guess he had had enough, he only stayed the one year ! )  I guess I was at an advantage because I spoke French, and he use to talk to me often. I still remember his debonair ways, his tinted glasses, slim, well dressed ( He use to wear ascots ), gee it is good that someone else remembered him, and brought it all back. This site is really great !   Thanks Sweet_N_Gorgeous Anna

Hi ExVerdunie !       Just read your post in answer to"Remembering  Bannantyne Teachers " that I Wrote, well you just enlightened  me to another teacher's name Mrs. Robilliard, my goodness !       Your name sounds quite familiar, did you ever attend Chalmer's Church, or do you have a brother named Ernie ? ( He was in one of my classes in Elementary, maybe it is just another Ernie perhaps ?   ) In answer to your question in locating one former classmate Ian Seales , I presume he must live in Lasalle.  I know the family , they lived over the next Street where we use to live while we attended Bannantyne School. I see him around sometimes at the Angrignon Mall .   Hope that helped you !   Sweet_N_ Gorgeous Anna

Hi Sweet,               Sorry this reply took so long. Yes I did attend Chalmers Church. My Mother would help in the nursery . Reverand Scoates was the minister at the time. My sister and I would attend church every Sunday and sit at the very back with our cousins Jimmy and Billy Ball along with their Dad. Talk about bring back memories. As for the person Ernie mentioned sorry no relation to me.   Ex-Verdunie

Hi Ex-Verdunie !             No Problem about answering late. Your name sounded familiar, I wonder if I did not see you at Chalmer's Church, I use to attend and teach Explorers and Kyros , I use to go to the Scoates's house on a lot of occasions, she was such a lovely lady, and Mr. Scoates was a very good  minister , I remember going to their house on the week-ends in the Fall and I would clean all her Silverware !             I missed the reunion they had for Chalmers Church a few years back  , just bad timing  I guess, heard it was great oh well..... nice to hear from you , your name sounded familiar ! .   Sweet_N_Gorgeous Anna

Just a curious question really....you taught
Explorers....you know once I left Montreal, I have not heard any one here in the
West ever mention they went to Explorers!!!!!!!!!!  My question is....Was
this just an Eastern thing?  As I also went to Explorers....got the shirt
with the stars etc.........
Just curious!!!!!!!
Thanks
Chris

Good Evening ChickenTaco2000 ,          I just read your note as I have not gotten around lately to read the messages, I guess it was an Eastern thing. As You mentioned the Explorers did recieve stars, and they had a blouse that always reminded me of a sailor's shirt. Also the next step after Explorers, one  graduated to Kyros. Good Memories always stay in one's mind.          Sweet_N_Gorgeous Anna
