Did anyone else visit Therrien Pool regularly? I did go to the "Nat" on occasion but I think most of my summers were spent at Therrien. It was built in '67 (I think) and was behind the Verdun General Hospital. Just a little past the Auditorium.

Hi Maggie ,although I Remember Therrien Pool,....I don't think I was ever in it,I know the area quite well,...but by those years I was going less frquently to pools includuing the Nat,....it just seemed to be in a whole different direction than we were accustomed to,........Everything we went to was always moving westward,........and the Therrien pool was more considered sort of a French area of town,.....but I guess it wasn't if you guys all  went there,........Will try to find some old pics of Therrien Pool                                                            HF&RV

Yesterday I wondered if people really still do the picnic thing,...and in this mornings Gazette there's a story on the same subject:   (((The surprises that make a picnic trip memorable are plentiful in the ))) Here's the rest of that article: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/story.html?id=ce23c33c-24de-454e-8692-1fb90662556e&k=91448    I think RuthArmstrong mentioned the Platssburg beach,....and i would thimnk alot of us have made that trip as well,......but in the later years as Plattsburg got real busy,...I can Remember going to Vermont more often,..and going through the towns of Swanton,....and going to the beach at StAlbans Vermont,.......too ..............................then of course the longer trips which took us to places like Hampton Beach,....or Old Orchard Beach .......and a nice swim in the Freezing Cold Atlantic............hahahaha but as kids ,COLD didn't matter,...it was nothing a little 'shiverring, with a towel around you wouldn't cure'.......hahahaha                                                                           HF&RV

Les,  these photos sure brought back memories of the "NAT".. I couldn't wait to get to the rooftop for those wee bags of chips ,I think they were called (laurentides) ??not sure. As a matter of fact , in that photo, I can see my fingers sticking up from the water when it was over my head, and someone pulled me up by the hair...which was very difficult because we had to wear those stupid bathing-caps!! O'well, glad to be hear today........   cookie

Maggie, I taught both grandchildren to swim at Therrien pool. Still go weekly. The kids at the gate often wave me through because I usually have a passle of kids with me. I am surogate grandfather to 28 (officially) I pay for the kids and they let me in free. The LaFontaine pool mentioned above is on Nun's Island which most mainland Verdunners see as another country. We have never really integrated. Especially since the Islanders tried to leave Verdun and become part of Montreal. With the Island amalgamation this eventually came about naturally but Verdunners feel that they see us beneath them. The LaFontaine park which Les mentions was fun with it's boat and canoe rental. I wonder Les, do you remember the electric buses on Amherst street. I vaguely remember them having no steering wheel. Ed

the Boardwalk,...of course was a big part of our lives when we were growing up in Verdun,.....and originally they built an earth dam (Dyke) to help stem the flood waters which would flood Lasalle Blvd often,....and so the earth was put there,...then as a 'Make Work Project' during the depression,....they decided to build the boardwalk,....and as 'luck' would have it ,.the Mayor at the time owned a lumberyard,....and so it was decided to make the Boardwalk:     above shot prior to Boardwalk                        Have Fun And Remember Verdun

Hi Ed, The electric trolley busses in Montreal did have steering wheels. The new model PCC streetcars which ran on the Outremont #29 streetcar line looked like busses and they did not have a steering wheel. The PCC streetcars did not have the controller that the motormen used on the older streetcars that controlled the speed of the streetcar. The new PCC streetcars had a foot pedal for acceleration and also a break pedal. I think your no steering wheel thoughts are of the new streetcars and they went in the direction of the tracks in the pavement. The electric busses looked just like the diesel busses inside but they ran very quietly from the electric engine. You would hear the zing sounds from the two trolley poles connected to the overhead wires. The Montreal Trolley busses had that cream colored paint which I liked much better than the brown paint used on the regular busses.

Wow , Les , you outdid yourself on the Boardwalk, I did not realize it was an embankment to keep the water from flooding the streets , once again thanks for information,   jim

Ahoy Les! Thanks for the Boardwalk picture and info. What great nostalgia. Man have I got MILES logged along that boardwalk! What a break from the streets and the long way home to 1st Ave from VHS! Watching the ice break in spring. The after school dates too!!!My boating aspirations all started right there and from ROWBOATS to Sailboats I went. How about that 3 Masted Schooner (looks like 70 footer) at anchor, in the picture. In a Depression too? Yikes, must have been the Mayors. (Made of WOOD!) Must have had a centerboard instead of a fixed keel, for all those shallow spots in the river.Must have made a nice sight for all those walking along the boardwalk or Dyke in those days.I do remeber it, but sadly the rotting boards over the years turned into ASPHALT! Good for riding our bikes and skating on after sleet storms."Those were the days my friend!" Sailah Victah

hi Vic ,.......reading your post made me also Remember all the times walking down the boardwalk when the river ice was in breakup,...............and like you we all put many miles from the Nat to the old Auditorium ,........the Boardwalk and all the 'Redtops',.......it was always easy to meet up with friends by saying I'll meet you at the Redtop,......and depending on whereabouts you lived throughout Verdun,..you would know which Redtop to  be at,........they were fun times Growing Up in Verdun I was going to post a few more shots of the Boardwalk and related stops along it,...but MSN is acting up again,......(for me at least),......and I am having a hell of a time trying to load the pictures,......so I'm hoping at least this message gets through Glad to hear your doing better,.....I also will have to fin an old photo of my Grandfathers sailboat,......(mostly sailed on Lac St Louis) I would imagine for the reasons you mentioned of all the shallow spots in the river along Verdun:                                    Have Fun & Remember Verdun

Yes I can see how the embankment just off shore slightly would lend itself to being around the Lachine area,....the only thing is that the site where I found the picture mentions only that this is a make work project from Verdun ,......and doesn't say it didn't extend itself into Lachine,...so I would think by the look of the style of pillars ,that at ne time the boardwalk did extend itself for quite a ways,.....interesting maybe your brother has some better pics for us to see re those areas,......be great to see them,........please ask him to join our site,.....he may be interested in sharing some of his thoughts and photos.......look forward to seeing some new stuff.                                                 Have Fun & Rememberr Verdun       When you look at the style of pillars and pipe between them ,..they certainly do resemble the Boardwalk ,......so perhaps we've uncovered another mistake by a museum ,....interesting ,......and lends itself to the old adage "Don't believe everything you read".................hahahahahhahaha  but in anycase the Boardwalk in Verdun looks like it continued on for quite a ways into Lachine (but no evidence of it in Lasalle).................................I wonder where the truths lie (is that an oxymoron,.....where Truths Lie)...............hahahahhahha                            HAVE FUN AND REMEMBER VERDUN

JMH you may like this site as well,...as there is a wealth of knowledge here,...and many photo's to be found,....(one of them being the one about working on the boardwalk: Read the story if you like : http://www.bilan.usherb.ca/bilan/pages/evenements/23656.html   there also was a time when the boardwalk went all the way to the Point,....so ship travel could very well appear in the backgorund in some areas,...most of us would Rememeber the Boardwalk as starting from the Redtop at the Stadium,...and continuing of course to just past the Natatorium, but earlier days it was a longer walk Hope it's of interest to you                                                         ---Have Fun & Remember Verdun--

Now here is a photo that I believe more closely resembles the area of where the men were at work,...they had the year right and the reason to build right (make work project, started in Verdun) ,,,,but look at this photo,I found ,and you can clearly see to bridge spans in the background,..and the two water channels in the foreground, this would suggest that Lachine is where the old photo was taken,........(it took me a while but I found it...........hahahahaha) a lot of mistakes in these different museums it would appear..........hahahaha we caught them,       ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Have  Fun  &  Remember  Verdun)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Thanks for the book info   JMH,   I think this is the same book that you mentioned a week or so ago?,  if so I have placed it on inter library-loan,...and hope to recieve it soon,....at least I'm sure it was Denis Gravel, who authoured the book I have on hold (if it is a different book I will place a request to get it as well,.....Thanks Again   as for the other two photo's I tried to find a decent picture of the spans across the Victoria Bridge to do a comparison photo,..but the two spans of the bridge in both the known Lachine Photo,.and the Boardwalk (men working pic) seem to be similar,.....the old photo woul;d have been taken in 1929 or 1930,..and this timeframe would have preceded the Mercier Bridge as we know it,....and the old Train Bridge would have been the only one we would see,........ Here's a shot of some repair to one of the cement abuttment (bridge supports)the spans that we can see here ,don't have the same arch to them,....but I haven't found a really good definitive photo of the higher section of Victoria Bridge to make a good comparison (but I will come across something)   those are clearly not the same as the other photo,....but as I say it could be the higher spans closer to the south shore,....(posssibly)   above is an aerial of Victoria Bridge (with no sign of a similar span,.or double span) granted this is a shot of the bridge well after 1930,.and of course it could have change(and did) due to the new Seaway.   from this shot it shows a fairly square cut Victoria Bridge ,........   the above shot here shows several of Montreal's Bridges,..with the second one being of course Victoria,...and about halfway across you can see a span with a arch of sorts,.but doesn't seem to be the same.......my guess is that the other photo ,was taken from a lAchine location,...while the men worked on the same 'Make Work Project'.....and with the pillars looking the same as the ones we all knew on the Boardwalk,.....I would guess same era,..same reason for the work,...and it was just listed under Verdun Boardwalk construction,...because that's probably where it started,..???                      in anycase we've had fun ...............hahahaha                                  Have Fun & Remember Verdun ps:  Everyone Remembers driving over that steel bridge deck on the Victoria,.....and they would make one side (two-way traffic) during Rush Hour............hahahahah   always seemed rather narrow, going one way,...never mind when you had someone headed towards you as well,.............but to remind us of where the center line was,....there were steel rollers,....that let you know when you crossed the center line,.and it was always fun to see if you could drive along them and have a steady ringing of those rollers.................anyone else Remember that:                                     HF&RV

les__f MSN said...

Hi MaggieMck,...anything is possible ,....and that wuld make it possible that the pic was taken closer to the east end of Verdun,..........it's hard to say as Nuns Island would or should be in the photo,......but if the shot were taken say really closer to May ave.      pre-Champlain Bridge days(since early 6o's that bridge opened).////then the bridge in the background would most defintly be Victoria ,.. ................................havf fun and remember Verdun.................................

Sharon here's a bit from an article in this mornings Gazette re: Canada Day Celebrations,..... "When you carry a Canadian passport, people generally give you the VIP treatment," he said. About 150,000 people are expected to attend the day-long event at Montreal's Old Port. More than 200 free activities will be offered, including line-dancing, craft workshops, games for children and water sports for all. The Hudson's Bay Co. will sponsor a 10-kilometre run, a three-kilometre walk and a one-kilometre kids' run to raise funds for Canadian athletes. Asked if he was still in shape and would run the 10-kilometre race, Brassard laughed and said, "Not as much as I used to be. It could be fun and it's a good goal, but it's a little short notice." The closing show, Canadian Rhythms, is organized by Quebec performer Gregory Charles. It will start at 8 p.m. on the main stage at Jacques Cartier Pier. Charles will share the stage with more than 40 musicians. The concert will reflect Canada's multiculturalism by mixing musical styles that include bagpipes, Celtic harps, fiddles, First Nation tomtoms, Arabic percussion instruments and Caribbean steel drums. Canada Day activities end at 10:15 p.m. with fireworks lighting up the sky over the Old Port. For more information, visit www.celafete.ca   It seems it's all day long at the old port, and has many things to do,? hope the info helps, the article was quoting one of Canada's gold medalist's , also for those who want to check in on the Old Port ,there is a webcam at Montreal Cam,...........     http://www.montrealcam.com/en-svpm.html  just click 'skip intro' and it usually shows a live shot of the festivities going on at the Old Port,........other cams situated around Montreal (Peel & StCatherine,..cam)  are also available on this site ,....                                           Have Fun & Rememeber Verdun

Goodbye, Streetcar Rails another favourite topic,.the old streetcar revival story,.well it may have been just that,.Here's what  they are doing on StCatherine starting just east of the Forum,   ..want to readd the whole story?  Have a look here: http://www.citynoise.org/article/4045       it tells a different story,.i'm surprised to see that they have even waited till this long to dig up the old rails,....afterall they removed them from everywhere else including Verdun,..(most of them anyway) many years ago;    but Knowing how things work in the real world,..some guy gets the contract to 'remove ' the old rails ,all the while some other guy is fighting to bring back a rail system,...and then miraculously just after the last rails are removed,.the OK comes through for a new 'rail' system in Montreal,.....oh well have to buy & install some new rails, I guess.............hahahahaha   Politics as Usual?  We'll have to wait & see,.....I would think you coulhave a nice rail service on Saint Catherine again,.and have it two way traffic ,.but ban cars ,have it only for streetcars & delivery trucks maybe.....?? My guess is Don't look for this version of the Saint Catherine we all knew & loved,...at least for some time to come:   those are rails you see there,.........say   Salute Now..........hahahahah              Have Fun & Remember Verdun

Les, I love your idea. Streetcars on St Catherine Street again. Fantastic. The City of Dallas, Texas has streetcars running on a downtown street on rails that were paved over years ago. Dallas found the rails to still be in excellent condition and did not put down new tracks, just removed the pavement from the old rails. The Dallas streetcar line has been running about ten years or so. I recall reading in The Montreal Star about 1967 that there was some talk about returning some streetcars to Montreal. A study found the rails in good condition however every time a road had been dug up the sections of streetcar tracks had been removed. The amount of rails removed seemed to dampen the streetcar return idea.

Yes Fresco750,....I think that would be a good idea ,even if only to have it run during the Summer & Fall months,........allowing the cars to be spared the costly upkeep of those usually harsh Montreal Winters,.......perhaps even a cross tram taking people up to the Mountain ,........SanFran seems to do quite well by it,......and cities like Portland ,oregon have a  neat rail type car that traverses it's city,...and from what I've seen ,it gets well used,.......Haven't seen the one in Dallas mind you I think it was early 90's the last time I was there,.....(but I did enjoy the variety of piquante sauces,......hahahaha & a couple of cold ones too.........hahahaha)   ............................................................havf fun & Remember Verdun

Montreal is going with 10 digit dialing ,starting this weekend,.....(we've had it here in Vanacouver for 10 years),...........it's a pain to start with but you have no choice and you soon get used to it.......   here's an excerpt from this morning's Gazette article: Say goodbye to seven-digit dialing. Starting this weekend, the impact of the digital age comes home to roost - for even the most technology-averse phone users in the Montreal region. It's called 10-digit dialing. http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/story.html?id=80dd6007-0cd9-4be7-b42e-a3ad22bb8da8&k=94936      can read the whole piece here:                                                   H_F & R_V

Hi Les, MSN seems OK in Florida. Congratulations to Your Daughter. Sorry you missed the game but the good news is that I think you'll see two more games. My adrenaline went through the roof last night. My Mother was born in Edmonton but the State Of North Carolina has never had any team from any sport win any national championship. Edmonton has tasted the Stanley Cup before. That said I'm rooting for Carolina which means Edmonton will win. Regardless it's been one hell of a series-Walter

les__f MSN said...

Thanks Fresco,....and I tend to agree with your assesment of two more games (at least I hope so),.......and as far as the Canes winning that wouldn't bother me too much either,...as they have been around along time, just not as the Hurricanes,....I would bet Ron Francis would be happy to see the Canes win as well,....he spent almost his whole career, with Hartford Whalers,........I think the Canes were 'lucky ' to beat the Habs ,...Remember the Habs had them down by 2 games,..then they lost the third game on what could be termed a very lucky goal late,on a Montreal goalie who was playing outstanding Hockey at the time,..then Koivu gets hurt (team leader),.....and they seemd to fall apart,........but you have to also Remember the old adage "You have to be Good to be Lucky",............and the Carolina Hurricanes are certainly Good,.........and are proving it,      At least as you say ,.we've got a helluva series,........and i do hope it goes to a seventh game,....but the Canes are good enough to also know that a 7th game can go either way,......so look for them to make a serious attempt to Close out this Series Saturday Night in Edmonton, We'll see I guess    As for the msn operating today ,it does seem to be a lot better right now ,.but earlier today,I was experiencing a lot of difficulty just trying to open any section of the site,   Thanks for your response.............Hope your weather is holding ( at least keeping ,those Natural Hurricanes from winning ..........)                                                                                        HF&RV

..and for those who used to work at  Imperial Tobacco,   nows a chance to       "get in on the bottom floor"  or any floor, it seems that the old building will be converted to Condos (whatelse,....were being Condo'd to death it seems)   The project will have green roof elements, 200 parking spots, a Commun-auto fleet of rental cars for non-car owners, but what excites local do-gooders is that 45 per cent of the units will be targeted to low-income earners. Thirty per cent of the units will be sold under $150,000, which allows first-time buyers to qualify for a $6,500 city home-buying grant. Another 15 per cent of the total will be sold to a non-profit group that will, in turn, offer subsidized units. The average price for a condo in St-Henri in 2004 was $220,000, higher than Verdun at $165,000 but lower than downtown’s $310,000 according to the Canada Mortgage and House Corporation. Morissette says the low price-tags on the units have met some local approval.   Wanna read the Rest of the Story (as Paul Harvey would say) then feel free to click on this link and read the Montreal Mirror article from Feb2006   http://www.montrealmirror.com/2006/021606/news1.html ..............Ok call the moving trucks,............hmmmmm maybe it's better to just Remember ,....than live it over again,.......but you wouldn't have to take your Work Home with you,....you'd already be there................       HAVE     FUN        and      REMEMBER         VERDUN    (typed without yelling............................hahahahahaha

Montreal, well into the sixties was per capita, the busiest metropolis in North America. Commerce for most of  Canada came through our port from all over the world. The exchange of goods from ships to trains (known as forwarding) in Montreal created employment untold. In the fifties every berth in the harbour was filled and ships were at anchor in the river waiting their chance to empty and reload. When the seaway opened, we still held our own. Some ships preferred to discharge in Toronto, but being a railway center most preferred to forward by rail from here. We had the great railyards for shunting boxcars and sending goods on the way. Above all this we had the head offices which employed untold numbers of office clerks. The CN and CP repair yards gave jobs of all kinds. (My brother-in-law specialized in the fine woodworking of dining and sleeping cars.) We built and repaired ships at Vickers and McDonnell.  We manufactured everything. Great factories like Grover's made clothing. Thousands of small shops turned out goods that could be sold to tourists and exported. The head offices of Canada's great companies were here. On top of all this housing and food was affordable in spite of the low salaries back then. Also, entertainment was the best. The Cavendish, The Esquire showbar (Frank Motley, Bo Diddley) The Hale Hakala (Wally Aspell) The York Hotel (Nick Makos) and when you were broke the main offered great country/western for 40 cents a quart. Rene Levesque and his gang put the French language above all this and destroyed it. Ed

We complain about its bad habits, we get bored with its predictability and we sometimes even think of cheating on it with a new, more exciting prospect—but at the end of the day we can’t deny our genuine affection for it. Whether we leave forever or decide to come back, we will always feel right at home. .......................................Sound Familiar,...........hahahahaha  Wanna read her story,..then click here: http://maisonneuve.org/index.php?&page_id=12&article_id=2302 ......afterall  it's Montreal/Verdun,...that made you all seek out & find this site:..........Right?                                 Have Fun & Remember Verdun  (now I'll keep looking for some familar stuff,....hmmmmmm wonder if Woodland makes their Pizza';s in a plastic bag,,,,,,,,,,,,hahahahahaha)

Bonjour JM, last night drove east on Beaubien from Parc to Langelier, then back along Jean Talon to Decarie, did not see anything resembling the two shots of the Beaubien or the shot of the JeanTalon, Belanger areas. There are some blocks that seem to not have changed at all in years, but there are others where they have been totally redone with new condos, or stores, or whatever. I am not giving up, I will look again, and also check out the bus from the Amherst area. I will be going to Toronto next weekend and I will ride a streetcar, or else! I think I had mentioned that I have never been on a streetcar, at least not that I can remember.......and of course, I will come back with lots of pics....m.p.u.

Hi Ralph, If you take The Queen Street Streetcar to The Humber Loop you'll get a nice view of Lake Ontario. You could also drive to The Humber Loop and take the Long Branch Streetcar along Lakeshore Boulevard. The Humber Loop is like Garland Terminal in Montreal. The Long Branch Streetcar is a suburban streetcar, it's kind of like going to Cartierville. Today's streetcars have windows that do not open. For a taste of the real thing you'll have to go out to The Canadian Historical Railroad Museum in Delson, Quebec. There you can ride one of the original Montreal streetcars. Then you have to imagine riding that streetcar along Wellington, throught the tunnel under The Lachine Canal, or how it would be riding down St Catherine Street or out to Cartierville. Montreal Streetcars were the best. Hope you have a fantastic time in Toronto-Walter

MPU   are you driving to both Toronto and then Boston,....you must have a zillion miles on your car by now,....Boston is an interesting town,.and fun to visit ,....I have not seen the 'Big Dig' as they called it,.....that is the new highway that travels below the city,...sounds like a good idea,.(don't know what the Bostontonians think of it,......it was like over a Billion $$,..........Since you will be there for the July 1st,.......will you be staying to celebrate the July 4th ,...those celebrations are usually great in any US town, but a city the size of Boston, (with it's Tea Party History),....I imagine would be a Super Party,.........sounds like a fun trip,....... that's what I liked about living in Montreal , we could take off in any direction (just about ) and be in a major city,...within a relatively short period of time,....Boston ,Montreal,....toronto,. etc etc .....   ahh the benefits of living on the mainland,..........  better as Alan Archie says have some Clam 'Chowdah'   while your there,...........He's probably having a outdoor  party ,with a Big BBQ  of ribs or something like that,.....sounds like he's good at it ,So if he reads this ,you might get an invite..............hahahaha                     Have a good trip,   ...................................................................................hf&rv

If you get a chance go down to the Port in central Boston and see if the USS Constitution is still there.  Its an old wooden battle ship thats been restored.  Very interesting and your daughter might enjoy it. Well I asked te question earlier re: Maislin ,...and I have a rather definitive answer right here: , there were some fairly inefficient transport operations hiding behind regulated rates. When shippers began the move to new and significantly lower rates, many carriers went bankrupt, or were purchased. No more Maislin Transport, CP Express & Transport, CN Route Canada, Thibodeau-Finch Express, or Imperial Roadways. I did come across this article making referance to a Maislin's Trucking in the States,.....and they were obviously in Bankruptcy Problems,.......must be the same Maislin's I would think,........... http://www.nlrb.gov/nlrb/shared_files/decisions/274/274-529.txt seems like a court case ........???     .............................................................................................Have                                                                                              Fun                                                                                              And                                                                                              Remember                                                                                              Verdun............

Winston the name Brennan sounds very familiar,...I will have to ask my brother,if he Remembers that name as well,....it just as a familiar ring to it,.......but I'm not sure,...... that's what happens with memories I guess they all melt into the same pot,....kind of Anyway that deck you have sounds very similar to a house I had ten years ago,.......and it's alot of work to paint or stain,.......mine had those railings and 2inch sguare rungs,.......what a pain to paint or stain for annoying sides,...and it to was about 40 ft long,.......that';s alot of two inch rungs..............hahahahaha  nowadays my present deck is Cedar plank type with a 1/2 btwn them ,.......makes it alot easier to work on,...........but today I pressure washed the surface and tomorrow or the next day will be the old refurbishing the Deck Coat,...then the Color Coat.................hahahaha  it never ends does it.......Also put the old Tomatoe Cages around the plants,......and got to watch the birds start to eat my Cherries............hahaha Oh Well the grapevine should produce a bunch this year ,.....but that's not till Sept (late).............the Rasberries took a s__t kicking ,due to a neighbour spraying his side of the fence,...and Iguess a bunch of that 'round -up' chhenical carried over the fence and did a number on the Rasberry Canes..............At least it didn't hit the Rock Garden and Teresa's Flowers,......................Work ,nothing but Work.......all around the house,.....but I guess we have to do it........I would think your property is under siege by deer ,I don't have that problem ,...but last year a racconn got all the cheeries.............hahahahahha  ( the little bas------   well you know what I mean) ............................................................................HF&RV

Sandy had mentioned in CHAT about Smith Transport,....but all I could find so far was that they seemed to have merged with CP ??   I'll try to find some other info on this,...........but trucking was a big part of Montreal,.....aside from the Harbourfront,.......every street Dowtown around Old Montreal,.was a real pain if you inadvertently turned onto a street that had a semi,  trying to back into those narrow loading docks that were part of every street in Montreal ,..to do their deliveries,.....the only time ,that 'daytime ' Montreal escaped the pain of ttttthe delivery trucks was during Expo67,.....when all truck traffic was banned during daylight hours,....and deliveries were all made over night,.........a Pain for the Drivers,.......and a nightmare to co-ordinate from supplier to delivery,  but they all did a remarkable job....................................                                                                  Have Fun & Remember Verdun

Barncats are at the door meowing to be fed...lol.Just saw a deer and her fawn runing across the hayfield across form the house. The herd is around somewhere closeby cause I can hear the newborn calves crying for their Mamas. Hi Sharon,  & everyone,........yup were in the longest day of the year,......Summer Solstice,..............better yet ,...our gas prices here went down today,...........hahahaha (heard that on te radio,......cause my theory is ,if you need gas ,just pull in & get it) However were 'down' to this 'only'  $1.15/litre today....................hahahahaha multiply that by 4.54 lites/gallon,....and you will know how much we pay a gallon here,in Canada,......reduce that gallon by 20 % and that gives you the size of the equivalent American gallon,....then allow for the excnange rate.............ahh never mind................hahahahaha   .............................................................have fun and Remember Verdun

Hi Sandy, Loved the story. I used to walk most days from Penn Station to Rockefeller Center and I would see the trucks from Canada with the rolls of paper in Times Square making deliveries to The New York Times. Hey, how about The Miami Heat last night. Did you see the game? All the winners coming my way this year. I'll probably never see this again. Go Rangers, Go Knicks in 2007-Walter
