hi Les, had to ask, are you referring to the "hockey" picture in the nostalgia album? Been kind of nice reading up on all sharon's memories and the ones everyone else comes up with. I'm pretty sure that the "tree" that was mentioned was there after the new station was put up.I do remember the "art" but not the stories of it. I lived across the street and remember many trips down the boardwalk past Richard Park under the Stadium and sometimes on to the Auditorium or Therrien Pool. We were a bunch of runabouts, weren't we? I wouldn't dream of letting my kids walk out the door in the morning and having them wander all over town all day! Times they are a changing! Keep the board buzzing Shar!
Hi Les, that is not the picture that we were refering to. The picture with the church is of a back lane with the church in the distance. I would also agree with you about the picture of the kids in a hockey uniforms it doesn't appear to be that old. There should be sheds on the houses in the back round. I also don't remember there being head gear at that time.I was also looking for curves in the stick and I can't tell but some look like they have them and I think it only came out in the late 60's. I also don't remember a rink on woodland only on the boardwalk, I may be wrong about this. Do you remember the head gear? Dannyb--
Hi Dannyb, I played many a hockey game at that rink in the late 50's for Norman Dawe. My team was the Ravens. There were also the Orioles, Owls, Bluebirds(?) to name a few. Barry Grenchuck's dad was the coach. I've even got some old movies of the action taken with an old Keystone camera! No headgear in those days!! It was just north of Woodland Auto above Bannantyne. The pic was taken looking north, on the south end was the warming shack,,,,if my memory isn't too fuzzy. Mike
Hi Mike Stark; I think I remember you from high school. Did you go to VHS? Did you hang out with Peter Arvantakis? I think that was his name. At the bench outside the boys gym? Brenda Walsh
