Ok....Who remembers...??? COME ON PEOPLE!!
Sharon, I lived just down 2nd Avenue from you at 457. We used to say
'across the street on the other side', but on the opposing corners at
that intersection (Verdun and 2nd), there was a laundromat, Campo's
(sp) meat market, restaurant and a triplex apartment building -- maybe.
Of course this was in the 50's.

Hello Bill,
Do you know the Allen's that lived on Second Ave.
just below Verdun Ave, Margo Allen was a friend of mine she married Charlie
Buist from Fourth Ave. Yes there was a rink at the corner of Woodland where the
buses turn now I used to skate there every nite. Does anyone remember the
Lothians' from Verdun.? We used to ski up on Mount Royal and you had to beat the
Streetcars or you got hit.
Margo(third ave)

You must of worked with Mutt Rohner, Gord Warnock
and his brothers also the O'Briens (third ave). I remember Tasses very well also
my Dad was one of the Lawn Bowlers. I remeber going over to Nuns Island with
Dick Whitney and Mac Patterson.
Margo

it was the O'neils from 3rd ave lol
Dewline,
Should I know who you are?
Margo
The Laundromat is STILL there....Campo's is now a 2 for 1 pizza place...Second Ave. Restaurant is now a depanneur and that 3 story building is now a medical center. Luv, Sharon
don't know????? Chuck Catto, from the Point,, former General Manager of the St. Louis Blues N.H.L. 1973-74,, was married to Nan Reid off of 5th Ave..
Hi Chuck,
Did you know Walter McLeish,Alfie Meldrum or Harold
Tibbles from the Point?
Margo
Sharon, thanks for the update on that corner I used to know so well. I
haven't visited to Verdun since 1976, and I would imagine there have
been some tremendous changes to the avenues. The Allen's rings a
distant bell but I still cannot recall the family just yet. Given time
I may. How about the Reiters on 3rd between Wellington and Verdun.
There were three sisters; Diane, Barbara and Beverly. I married Diane
in 64. I think they all attended Verdun High.

Hi everybody;
My ex-husband told me this wild story about Torchies Warf. He said that
when he was around 12 or 13, that would have been mid to late sixties, a
flying saucer came out of the water in front of all these fishermen, hovered
for a few seconds and then took off out of sight in seconds! Has anyone else
heard this wild story before? Were you there Danny B?

Dewline,
Do you still keep in touch with the other two or do
you know where they are?
Margo
You're quite welcome Bill. I have a question for you...I just realized that I also lived at 296 - 2nd Ave. at one point in my childhood too...Are you related to or know Teedy (Edith) Ford at all? Or do you know any of the Ford's? There were 15 of them so I wouldn't be surprised if you do...lol. I know that a few of them have left us now tho. The reason I ask if you're related to Teedy at all is because she was once married to a Cooper but he passed away unfortunately, I believe. But they did have 3 great kids that I used to live next door to and babysit---Earl, Noreen and Trevor. Ring any bells? The Ford's were long time good friends of my Mom's....do you know any of the Bennett's maybe? Originally from the Point but most ended up in Verdun. My Mom was Beverley (Bev) and there were her 3 brothers Ronnie, George and Wayne.... Luv, Sharon P.S. Aren't you the one who is in Hawaii, Bill? How did that happen you lucky man! My hubby was born there and raised there till he was 18 too!
Hi Bettyloo, The sighting you are refering to was in the early 70's. And it did not come out of the water it appeared to go in after hovering for a brief moment. It was seen by people on Nuns Island and on the Verdun side of the water from the boardwalk. I believe it was mentioned in the Verdun messanger but not sure if that was the paper or not. There have been many sightings on the Island of Montreal around the water, one just this year near Mercier Bridge I believe. Anyway if you see one I hope you have other people with you or that they see it first or you will question yourself. Dannyb--
LOL! Too much spruce beer maybe? Luv, Sharon

Do you have Teedy's husbands first name, because I had three cousins
(brothers Bill, Jerry, and Robert) who all passed away early in life.
They lived on Fourth or Fifth Avenue between Wellington and verdun.

Darn it, no, I'm afraid that I don't think I ever knew her hubby's name. Luv, Sharon
I remember my dad hanging out with a Gerald Ford (not the pres.).

Ralph are you still working with CPR or have you
retired or did they retire you. The last time I was in the station was back in
2000 when my dad passed away. I took the Metro up to Guy street and walked to
the new Molson Arena but I could not get inside. I walked back to Atwater and
took the Metro back to Verdun and Wellington. I could not believe seeing that
Toe Blakes tavern was gone. WOW. So many things the same but also many different
things. Even though it was December I walked over to 4th Ave where I used to
live. Those places still looked the same as if I had never left. Normans was
still on Verdun between 3rd & 4th. Ate lunch what a treat. You cannot get
steamies here in Winnipeg nor do they make fries like Montreal. Many stores have
tried to sell smoked meat but the people here prefer corned beef. Same kind of
meat but cured differently. I guess not a lot of Montrealers
here
I have worked nightclubs all my life so you see things at 3-4 am that are strange. I remember playing Berts in Lasalle around 1974-5 living on Moffat between Lasalle and Verdun ave. Parking was terrible so after dropping my guitar off at home I ended up parking on richard or Brault next to Lasalle blvd. around 3:30 am. I saw a glow from the water and went up on the boardwalk to see. At first I thought it was the reflection of lights from the south shore but then it moved on it's own just under the water. It was heading toward the Champlain Bridge when it disapeared from view. I went home after that. Being a musician in a rock band sort of lowers your credibility, so I told no one. Never saw it again. And gave up smoke shortly after.LOL Barry
Hi Barry, I guess you shouldn't have given up smoke because what you seen was what other people seen go in the water earlier. I recall a experience similiar although it went in the water and never came back out. Credibility doesn't come into play when there is three of you there and all see the same thing. And the fact that everybody is as straight as an arrow at the time. I have heard similiar accounts over the years. There are even a few sightings that you can find on the internet that are located around the Mercier Bridge. For myself it was in the 70's, what year not sure but around the same time. Dannyb--
