THANKS for stopping by, I do my best to acknowledge when someone leaves a comment, you do not have to be a member here & everyone is welcome.
Ps: This site is monitored but not actively posting on a regular basis. Mostly these are stories & some photos saved from a defunct site known as Verdun Connections which was on MSN Groups initially then on a social network called Multiply.
I posted Lisa's URL because I thought it would be of interest to Verdunites who have moved on from humble beginnings to realize their dreams. I personally realized my aspirations of spending my life at sea. When I was a toddler on Second Avenue, my dear departed mother would take me on her loving knee and point out with apparent pride the bearded sailor on the Exports cigarette package. She told me it was a picture of my maternal grandfather. There is an old faded photograph of my grandfather sailor. Actually there was an amazing similarity both in appearance and job description. However I never had the experience of meeting him in person, he died in England before I was born. Anyway life's map was set in place for me from the beginning. No regrets; I had a dream which I followed. I was born on an island and will complete my life on an island. In this case it is Hawaii. It was all meant to be. Bill (Second Avenue)
and again another version,..... ....I seem to picture a different one again with te sailor facing towards the left side,..I will try find one like that...... hf&rv
No sweat Bill,..................... Btw: I too started my life on an Island ( Montreal,of course) and then for a very brief time as a toddler,I lived on Center Island in Toronto ,.there were 3 island's Ward's Island, Center Island & Hanlon's Point,...................from there it was back to Montreal/Verdun,...& then out here to Victoria BC on Vancouver Island ,...........I've never lived on the mainland of Canada ..........No Man is an Island they say,.but I guess you can live on them......................hahahahaha HF&RV
