AA Midget Verdun Maple Leaf 1973-74 Tournament
Here are photos of the AA Midget Verdun Maple Leaf team that won the tournament against the ex Soviet URSS team in the 1973-74 tournament.
The LHJMQ (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) will be back to the Montreal area and have its base at the Verdun Auditorium for the 2008-09 season. This league disapeared from the Montreal area in the 2002-03 season when the Rocket de Montreal team was transferred to Prince-Edward-Island. Montrealer Farrel Miller bought the Fog Devels of St John's Nfld for the sum of 3 millions. The transaction still needs to be finalised. The Verdun burrough will build business lodges and a press gallery at Auditorium and work will start in the next few days. This should be good news for Verdun hockey fans and area. I think that's a great thing for Verdun,.to once again have Jr. Hockey in the Auditorium,....many great games have been played there, with the very strong Verdun Maple Leafs Team of the 60's ......... we saw some serious NHL calibre talent come out of Verdun......and I can honestly say ,that was the only time in my Life that I would actually Appreciate a team sporting the Maple Leaf moniker, can't say the same for that 'other club ' in ontario.................hahahahahah hf&rv

Great picture , Guy!
Couple of things:
1) That was a "AA" team that had to beat many "AAA" teams to win the Wrigley tournament.
2) Jimmy Mann (Later played for the Winnipeg Jets) was playing Bantam "AA" & brought up to play for the MIdget team.
Earl.
