I think at one time it was called Champlain Chrysler-Dodge
It is presently called Champlain, but the name from the 60`s?????? Lesage??? Lestage??? This will bug me until I remember (like an "earworm"). I almost bought a used 1971 Ford Torino convertible there once--a beautiful car............

Yes we did have quite a few car dealers, for what seemed a small community,....(with relatively little wealth,or so it seemed),...but the population was considerable for the amount of area we occupied,,,,,,....it was always neat to go and check out the New Models,...each September,... Reply

Great Les, I had forgotten about this discussion......from almost two years ago, thanks, mpu
Verdun is the third largest city in the province with a population of 80 to 100 thousand, the exact figure to be confirmed, after Montreal and Quebec city.
hi Guy5479,....I always thought that Laval was considered as Quebecs, 3rd largest city,..after of course Montreal,.Quebec City,.... (has this changed),..I know Verdun was up there at one time. but all figures I 've seen for Verdun seems to be stuck around the low 60,000 thousand figure?? but I do Remember definetly seeing the sign on Lasalle Blvd,....with 99,000+ for many years,.but I have never found a census to confirm that either,( as I mentinioned,.60 or 61 thousand seems to be the numbers),.......I wonder what it really was,......I also have a faint recollection,.of seeing that big Welcome to Verdun billboard population 104,000 ( but the 99 figure is the one I Remember seeing for years),.....from 1968,..through say '73,...seems to be when I recall that big Green & White Billboard,..............anyone out there have a picture of the old sign,.....?
York Automobile was Chrysler Plymouth dealer at 3rd & Wellington, Page & Fils was Ford dealer on Wellington at Regina, then built new shop further east on Wellington and became the Chrysler dealer. Ouellette Motors at Church & Lasalle was the Dodge Dealer, then moved to Woodland or opposite corner to Doyle.. Doyle was the Chevvy dealer at Willibrord & Bannantyne, Lalonde was the Mercury Monarch dealer also on Bannantyne. But the biggest dealer was Omer Barre Buick, Pontiacs. and Caddies this of course was all in the 40 & 50's Gordo

On the 'borrough of Verdun' site,..now that it is part of Montreal,...they show in the Residents Handbook,....a population at the last census of 60,564,.....and a population in 2003 of 62,600....( their own poll I guess),......all these figures seem to differ quite a bit,.....although showing a large decline after 1971,....but Lavals pop. is listed in the mid 350,000 figure ,......... http://www.ville.montreal.qc.ca/cmsprod/fr/arr24/en on the right hand side of this link,.you should see a Residences Handbook,..it's a PDF file,..and it allows you to read the whole book on line if you like,..but the population fihure was on page 10, the title of that page is Socio Economic profile at a glance,...... Check it out if you like,... I did find lots of different stats, type of pages when searching through Google,....but many are oppose each other
sorry I did it again,......I should just paste here,.instead of typing,.but I clearly need the practice.........hahahahaha http://www2.ville.montreal.qc.ca/cmsprod/fr/arr24/en I missed the 2,.... try that one
I was just watching the Barrett-Jackson, auto auction,....If you like Nice Cars,.and I know a few of you do,.......you may like to see some of these cars,...some unusual ones, some old muscle cars,..and some just plain classic cars,...the Barrett_Jackson auction in Scottsdale Arizona,...has become a somewhat prestigious & respectable car auction,....amny cars are bought & sold,by all kinds of people ,.from famous to ordinary characters,.......and some of the prices,..are unreal,.what some cars are commanding these days,........ if you find these things of some interest then ,.checkout this link http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ left hand side under auctions,.then scottsdale,....or just search around,...you can search by specific makes,.or models,..etc etc...... there was one called a Pontiac Banshee,...in 1965 Pontiac made a car that looked from the side like a Vette,..but with the rear end of '70 -'75 Pontiac Firebird,........just shows how far ahead (or how old the style ) really is when we see a production version...................Hope it's of some interest to the Car Buffs,
