Halloween

Halloween was a trip in the 40s and 50s. Us preteens used to knock on
doors, and when the occupant answered, we'd all sing together, "charity
please". We'd go home after a night of roaming the streets, with more
candy than God intended for one human being.
I still connect the great voice of Fats Domino singing 'My Blue Heaven'
with October 31st for some forgotten reason.

Hi Bill,  Halloween was a lot better in the 50's and 60's I wasn't around in the 40's but imagine it was better than when I went out as a kid in 50's. My son went out and imagine there was only two of those mollasses candies in his bag at the end of the night. They were the ones that you would get the most of. They are the ones that I look forward to every year in October. And you will never get any of those St. Catherine Candies. I took him on Valiecette and Rolland and although there was many people giving out to the children they could have put the candies in there pockets and still had room for a apple or two. Many people done a very good job on the decorating of there houses the cost of the candies is getting far too expensive and people give out only one candy at a time now. Imagine if they done that back in the days when we all went out with our pillow cases and had to go empty them a few times because they were too heavy. One thing is it is still fun to watch all the kids get dressed up. Dannyb
