Ok....anyone remember/know of Barry's Fish and Chips joint that was on Verdun Ave. between Argyle and Woodland? A LOT of people from VHS went there for lunch to get "dippy dogs" and fries and/or burgers for lunch. And a LOT of Catholic folks went there for their fish on Fridays...
Did anyone know Barry personally like my ex-husband did? heh heh heh...you wouldn't BELIEVE some of the things that went on there after hours man...

Hi again, The Barry's that I knew was on Bannantyne between Woodland and Argyle a few doors down from Franky's Restaurant.All the kids went there for their lunch . Dannyb--

anyone remember the name of the little fish and chip shop on
the corner of manning and verdun avenue i think.it was run by a big polish
guy.my dad would stop there most fridays after work or send me to get fish and
chips for supper,i would run through the lanes from osborne to the shop and back
as fast as i could so the food would'nt get cold.of course they were wrapped in
newspaper something you don't see today.
Don't remember corner of Manning..........wasn't it corner of Richard and Verdun ??
yes i thik it was richard and verdun,can you remember the name
of the place.great fish and chips.
Barry's Fish & Chip was on Bannantyne between Argyle and Woodland. There
weren't really any table in there, it was standing room only!
Just two doors to the left was Frankie's. I remember the tables and the Juke
boxes....some fav tunes:Brown Sugar, Nights in White Satan.....and if you
went just around the corner on Argyle there was a little store that let the
kids from VHS hang out for lunch. They even had standing counter's made. For
$ 0.20 cents you could leave with a little brown bag full of candy...green
leaves, mojo's, cherry bombs....
Across the street to the left was another hot dog/hamburger joint. I don't
recall what the name of it was though?

Manning and Verdun ave. had Bob's Soda Fountain which sold great Fish and chips.(west north side). Manning and Verdun had Smith Maines Bakery. The other one across from Frank's shell station on Brault or Richard and Verdun was Chez Bes or Bez
wasn't Barry's fish & Chips on Bannantyne and Argyle and Jacques steamed hotdogs across the street next to the laundry mat ....

Ther was the fish and chip store on the North side of Wellington between Desmarshies and Sixth ave.Right next to Joe's shoe repair..... Steve
It used to have two old wooden bench booths. The fish&chips were wrapped in news paper. I think most of the news paper boys used to bring their left over news papers to them........... Steve
