The Eagles!

Wow, I went to the Eagle's "Long Road Out of Eden" Concert in Saskatoon last night......Wow, they put on an awesome show!  The backdrop videos were almost as entertaining as the music. Tonight is the last of 3 Saskatoon performances. Winnipeg is their next stop before they head back to the States. Don't pass if you have a chance to see them on this tour. I'll be looking for their CD "Long Road Out of Eden".

Worst Fashions of the 60's and 70's

well-it had to be brought up sometime...lol...
Any clothing styles from the 70's ,60's, or the 80's that you miss? Any you are embarrassed to have worn? Anyone have pics to share of fashions past?
The worst I can recall were the hot-pants!! I had 2 velvet pairs and I actually went out to the Moustache Club in 'em...also ladies-the 80's thing  with the frilly ankle socks and high heels-as Dr. Phil would say- "WHAT were you THINKING"???
I DO miss some of the late 70's stuff like black leather biker jackets (think-RAMONES)...I hated the 60's bouffanty, teased short hair and white lipstick...I adored the HUGE HAIR of the 80's tho...(can I make it so gigantic that I can barely fit through a doorway)  and the shaggy hair on guys!
A lot has come back in style...but thank God no hot pants...yet!

THE GENERATION GAP JULY 19th.2008 REUNION

Hi everyone, I have all the info and pictures for the different genesis of the Generation Gap starting off with the original band named the Gnomes featuring Danny Beck, Brent Meldrum, John Frainetti, Mike and Kevin Gauld and myself, Dave McAuliffe. The name was changed for a very short time to the K-o-tics but that's a story that only Robin Williams could explain with some justice so we changed the name to The Generation Gap. The line-up changed with the addition of Charlie Clark, Kirby Edgel, Alex Bielajew, John and myself. Although we did have a sax and horn players in the band this did not last long. Played at various venues around Quebec, Ontario, New York and Vermont. Were the headliners at the 1968 Verdun Winter Carnival and played the Youth Pavillion at Man and His World. The Last time the band played togerher was in 1969 at Angrignon Park with the line-up of John, Alex, Kevin, Mike and myself. Now for the good stuff. The band is planning a Verdun Reunion 40th. Anniversary get together in July of 2008. It will be a 60's theme reunion dance event and to quote Mike G. it will be a "come as you were" party. You can get more info when you contact me at generationgap@hotmail.com So spread the word and hope to see you all there.

Top 100 Cdn. Albums of all time

Did anyone see the listing of the top 100? Do you agree with Neil Young as the all timer?I see the Band came in 4th with Big Pink. I have always wanted to buy that one. One day back in school we had this 3 man folk group come to VHS and play for the aud. These guys raved about how good this album was..that was 40 odd years ago.
So now I am going to and get it..always thought The Band was one of the best anyway. Saw them with Dylan at the Forum...One of the best concerts I have ever seen.
Let me know what you think. This could be interesting...

VHS Band Album

Does anyone have a copy of the album that the VHS band recorded in the early 70's? I think it was on the Cross-Canada band trip.

Where does it take you?

When I turn on my "golden oldies" radio station and hear The Jackson 5 (highlighting Germaine) singing "Daddy's Home", I am swiftly taken back to a "Dawson's Dance" in the basement at Bannantyne School. My first close dance, with a "younger man" singing softly in my ear.

SAY CHRISTMAS

SAY, CHRISTMAS!

It is a Christmas tree.  It is NOT a Holiday hedge.  It is a Christmas tree!
 Say it...Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!

THIS "CAN'T SAY CHRISTMAS"

IS GETTING A LITTLE ANNOYING!
WE SHOULD ALL PUT MERRY CHRISTMAS
SIGNS ON OUR LAWNS AND

ON OUR BUMPER STICKERS
DON'T YA THINK?

WHAT THE HECK'S THE MATTER WITH THE COURTS?
ARE THEY GOING TO CHANGE THE SONGS TOO?
  I'M DREAMING OF A WHITE...HOLIDAY?
WE WISH YOU A MERRY....HOLIDAY?
I"LL HAVE A BLUE...HOLIDAY WITHOUT YOU?
THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS!

WE ARE LOOSING OUR RIGHTS!
THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FREE SPEECH COUNTRY!
"MERRY CHRISTMAS" TO All of YOU.....
Say it everywhere you go!

Maybe the people who don't want to say Christmas should
not have a day off on Christmas or Easter and that
goes for the post office and government and all the
judges banning this nation's religious heritage!

Mashmakan

There's a band name I haven't seen for a while. Out here on the west coast nobody's ever heard of Mashmakan. As I remember they were originally called Trevor Payne and the Triangles, also a band nobody has ever heard of out here. They did lots of dances in Verdun in their days.
