Who owned this house

While in the area, I found this old quaint house interesting with its 2 corner towers. It is next to the hospital at the corner of Allen and Hickson. Are there any members who are familiar with the area that may know something about its history.

I tried to look on the BNQ website but there is no Allen street - there is Hickson so I am wondering if it was another name beside Allen.

Hi ShirleyBH ! At this link, you will find Allen St. in 1955: http://bibnum2.banq.qc.ca/bna/lovell/src/1955/4.Annuaire_montr%E9alais_des_rues/A/110773_1955_0082.pdf I knew the Messier family who was living at 3892 Allen St. in the fifties. JM

Out of curiosity I looked up Lovells, 1954  and 1967, this address  and a   Damien A,. Messier  lived in that house. If that is any help.

I have started to make a list of all the tenants from the time it was built from the Lovell directory. Allen street is not listed for 1923-1924. In 1924-1925, the numbers where 142 and 144 to years 1926-1927. The currant numbers started in 1927-1928. The first tenant at 142 was Emile Billette and at 144 it was Sam Grant. It is quite obvious that the house was built in 1924-1925 so the building is 82 years old. I have a good chance of being right by saying that the tenants in that house worked either at Dominion Textile Co. (D.I.L), Troy Laundry or British American Dyeing Co., all in that vicinity. Guy

Or they worked at the more obvious, the Verdun General Hospital right next door. Guy

I wonder if over the years it was converted to a duplex or a fourplex. Multiple entrances. Those interesting tower like structures would spark my curiousity as a child. Were they attics or just an artistic design. Anyway it surely was built with a view at least to the river huh, before the hospital was constructed. Strange I do not remember it.

A friends remembers it was occupied by the nuns from the hospital for some time.
