Hey John, The Campbell family moved to St.Laurent to be near the Father,s (Harold) work as an airplane mechanic at Air Canada. After the boys (Bobby and John) Mother died so young the grandmother who lived upstairs stepped in to help out but died very soon after. Harold had make different arrangements where he would have less travel time to work. When I had my old Studebaker I used to load it up with kids after a football game to swim off the old canal pier at lachine. We could swim between the ships and hang on the marker buoys. Bob Campbell, Brian and Alan Ranger, Billy Clifford and Vic Davis were some of the guys .
bet you miss those days...swimming inbetween ships..think most of us have to look back and say that verdun-lasalle area was a good place to grow up in..Did you know a Norman Longely..he was in and out of the Douglas hospital, always wonder what happen to him..think he was suicidal.
Hi, All! I've only met Phyllis Hutton through VC. Joyce Pedder, who recently became a member of VC, I met through Classmates.com. Good morning to you both. Jack
Hi Ed! I've connected with at least 6 OLDE friends and with a few NEW Verdun friends like youself and a few others on the site. I'm still trying to locate Bill Anderson of Verdun Sailing (Sailboats) Club. Lived way up on Manning. I look into the site often and enjoy many of the comments. I've eased up on the RANTS, as you may have noticed. It doesn't take much to spark a lot of HITS! Kudo's to Les and Maggie! Victah
Hey Cookie - Actually, you're the only one that I've connected with....and indirectly your brother, (Wayne-one of my first loves...sigh!)....lol.....but I shall not give up hope in re-meeting others.!!! Anyway, it's great fun reading all the entries every day - brings back so many memories for this 'old girl. judy(grayburn) mcnab
Hi Judy....Most pals I reconnected with are from birth to 15 yrs old on 3rd ave, where I was born. As for the ages 15 to 21 living on Allard there is you and Heather. Although I've asked on VC for the where-abouts of all the gang back then at Kosta's none seem to be found in our group.........go figure! Sam
Cookie, it may help to repeat those names every now and then as new members may know them or old members that missed the messages may see them on another round. Never give up. I have not been reconnected with any old Verdun friends through Verdun Connections but I have made a few new ones!
