Am I dreaming. There was a box on top of the page for those who wanted to join but it is no longer there. Whats happening ?

It's still there Guy, but if you are already signed in, then it doesn't show for you,I just tried it,.but what does appear instead of 'join this group' is 'Invite Members' button:
Try signing out & then coming to this Verdun Connections site, & you will see what a nonmember see's.

Les,
O.K. now I see how it works. It's part of the learning process. Thanks Les.

Hello Guy I'm responding to your original thread, I sometimes use the automatic sign in,when coming onto Multiply,....there is a check mark you can make to allow auto sign in on the computer you happen to be using, but if I'm using a different computer I (deselect the checkmark in the box) so as to not leave it wide open for anyother users otherthan myself. eg: If I'm downtown & using a computer that is not mine , I can still sign in. & check the site, but when I close out it's not automatically opened if someone else comes across the site. As for the Invite someone to join not working , I don't know what could cause that.
Your right about Multiply upgrading their site periodically,as the other day I got a page that was very reminiscent of the old MSN.Hmmmmmm Can't find that page........lol but it was only temporary & the site was accessible again quickly.. but I though it was shades of the old MSN glitches & gremlins again.

Les,
Can a non-member see my site or any other parts of the site without being a member and if so what advantages does a member have over a non-member ?

Guy I have thought about that muself, & from what I see anyone can view the many sites on Multiply & from what I understand so far, they can 'comment' on a blog or a photo, but there are certain features they cannot access......this is similar to the fact they anyone could read Our MSN site (although ,they couldn't comment unless they joined) To post a thread you have to be a member,or to post a photo album etc etc
So I guess the idea is that a person can see what the theme of a certain site is & if they choose to participate then they would join. Also I believe We can choose to change this site to a Private Setting, and then only invited members could even see it. We never chose to hide on the other MSN but we would always keep the option open . In order to weed out spammers & various nuts, we had to change the policy where a valid email address had to be supplied & after doing that ,the membership actually grew at a steady rate. We just want to be as accessible as possible, for now,and hopefully appeal to Verdun & Montreal themes, etc etc
If you want to see what it's like to just be a visitor , then sign out ,and then visit this group, like a non-member would,.that should show what it's like for non-members & just what functions work or not.
I also believe that even if you sign in to Multiply but not join a specific group, then any response you make to a 'blog' would only appear on your own private site & not on the Verdun site,..

Les,
I used the following Multiply number but I get connected automatically as my identification number appears on the top right hand corner: http://verdunconnections2.multiply.com/
So to make your answer short, a non-member can view all of the Multiply site including my site and my photos. This way a non-member can visit the site and if he likes it he can join, the only difference is he can make comments on the blog but cannot have his own site and download photos.

Something like that Guy,....... Once your automatically signed in and on this VC site ,.just go up to the top corner & sign out, then you will have the same access as a non-member

Hello Guy,
The join link only appears when you are not logged in, I checked this by going to another PC, doing a Google search for Verdun Connections, the window that comes up has the "Join For Free" link on it, along with a Login link if you are already a member.
