Every kid on my street tried to emulated the Rocket on the sidewalk, either with a beat-up old puck or a ratty tennis ball depending on the season. I heard him play on the radio prior to television. and I knew the name of every player on the Canadians. Remember 'he shoots, he scores!' in french.
I was saying M.R. played hockey during my childhood and was a hero to many of us in Verdun. The kids in Verdun today probably have no idea who he was, and could care less. Bill
