Verdun.....old memories
I was just up in Montreal this past weekend, and did a "nostalgia drive" through Verdun. Damn, it has become "old and tired". But, the pizza at Woodland's was as good as ever. I couldn't believe the "Fleurs des Lys" hanging from all the balconies along Stephens, Rolland, Valiquette, etc . I think I now realize that "all good things" come to an end some time. But, the memories will always be there.....

give and take!!
Hey Ralph,
I just wanted to say "Thanks So Much" for going out of your way to
help reconnect me with my cousin John. Andrew passed my email address along to
his Dad and we have been emailing and getting caught up on what has
happened over the last 35 years or so! Not only did I make contact with John,
but he has put me in touch with other relatives as well! This world really isn't
that big after all! Thanks again!

smoking and drinking
My mother never smoked or drank a day in her life. She lived to be the ripe old age of 63. She died from a brain anuerism(?). Maybe if she had smoked or drank, her blood pressure might not have been so bad, and she would have been around a little longer. Winston Allison
tsunami

Drinking
Bill Cooper. Just to let you know, I too gave up drinking 24 years ago. Also gave up smoking 6 months ago. As most of us growing up in Verdun came from poor backgrounds, what else do the poor do but drink and smoke. Maybe somewhere along the road we decide enough is enough. Winston Allison

Recycling?
Can remember the carts jammed in the front of the stores with bottles. Then why is it that Ontario does not recycle their bottles?

verdun athletic club 1935-
Is anyone familiar with the Verdun Athletic Club (VAC) which was run by Hugh Woods. Hockey and soft ball was played during the years 1935 through to 1937 or maybe longer and held at Willobrod Park?

Buzz Beurling
I took these photos yesterday where Buzz Beurling lived at the beginning of the 40s at 4573 Bannantyne. The building was demolished and replaced by a parking lot which is situated at the left of Le Centre Communautaire Marcel Groulx at 4501 Bannantyne. I believe there used to be a Chrysler Dealer named Doyle Motors in the 50s in that building. At the left of the parking lot is an attractive residential building. The lot is situated directly in the middle and facing Willibrod Park.

Verdun
Reggie. I would top that if I could, but sure can't do it. I have been watching all the comments about Verdun, and I think we all basically think the same. I miss so many things. And you are right about our beloved Verdun. Most people were very friendly, and just walking down the street and saying Hi to everyone, was great. Also, it seemed like everyone knew everyone. I think what I miss most about Verdun, is my youth and my innocence. Oh well, at least most of our memories are worth the aging we have to go through, just to have those memories. Winston Allison

Taxi
Good Morning All!
Awhile ago someone posted about the different cab stands around Mtl. Today I just want to ask those of you who drove cab or who still do to keep one of the dispatchers from the old Mac's in the Pointe, now working in LaSalle in your thoughts and Prayers as he is on the road of healing/recouvery. I know him as Jim, you may all know him by R......but he is a great guy.
Thanks Tiny Tina
