Grand Trunk
Grand Trunk was a railroad company back then
but does anybody remember the Grand Trunk Canoe Club.
Yes, I remember Grand Trunk club very much, I also paddled there and my uncle was commondore for many years. It was original facing Wellington Street next to the railroad tracks separating Verdun and the Pointe. Barbara
I PADDLED AT GRAND TRUNK ALL THROUGH THE SIXTIES. UNCLE WAS COMMADORE , ART FILIATRAULT . JIM HASTINGS WAS ALSO. PEOPLE I PADDLED WITH - PETE MCCABE , PETE TREACY ,RON AND BOD DOMACHEVESKY , ALLAN BROWN , JERRY DUGID , BILLY CORDNER .

I remember two friends of my oldman,....a Kenny Hastings,....& Gordie Filiatrault...(Unfortunatley Gordie died in the 60's ......but I noticed two of your paddling buddies ,with those same family names.... hi mike i heard jim past away , not sure when . bob and i are still good friends . i'm in vancouver , bob stills lives in montreal . i saw him 3 weeks ago on trip to montreal .where do you know him from?
Hi Bill, Is that the same Jim Hasting that had a sister named Carol? Bob D. was not a close friend his name just rung a bell. My mom worked with a lady named Filiatrault I think. Maybe at the pastry store,,,Smith-Main's? My worked there for years at both stores,,,with a Mrs. Anthony too. Mike
HI MIKE NOT SURE IF JIM HAD SISTER ? MY MOTHER WORKED AT SMITH- MAINS AT BOTH STORES FOR MANY YEARS . I REMEMBER ALL THE LEFT OVER PASTRIES SHE USED TO BRING HOME ON THE WEEKENDS HER NAME WAS MARTHA [ MATT ] FILIATRAULT . SHE PAST AWAY IN " 81". I HAVE A BROTHER PAT WHO STILL LIVES IN MONTREAL . Hi Bill, Jim Hastings passed away Dec 19, 1999. He was my Uncle, also the Kenny Hastings mentioned in previous messages died in July 1977, he was also my uncle. Barbara
Hi Mike, There was a Carol Hastings that lived on Wellington St. Her father was Kenny Hastings. The Jim Hastings you mentioned what age would he be. As my Uncle Jim Hastings was a member of GTBC, My brother Jim, I don't remember him hanging around the GTBC. As I was a member of GTBC and also paddle for them. Barbara
Hello Barb, I knew your Uncle Kenny very well,...he was one of my oldmans best friends,....they knew each other for many a moon,.....and I also know a lot of story's about the antics of these two 'characters'......I also helped in the building of Kenny's house on the South shore ( an on-going project ,of the 10 yr variety),.......He had a great laugh didn't he,.......very distinct.......& Loud...............hahahaha
Hello to you all, My names is Ron Ryan, My Grand Father was Dan Ryan Sr. a Commadore of the Grand Trunk Canoe Club in it's hey days In the early 60's myself, my cousin Charles (Chappy) Ryan paddled with the Cordner's Ian & Charley in a C4 for a few years and we earned a spot at the C.C.A. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA, Ottawa, August 3rd 1963.

I too remember Grand Trunk Boating Club, my Father, Grand Father, Uncle and brother were associated with the Canoe Club
