Firestations
There was another station on Verdun
Ave. and Osborne. Then they moved to the new Police & Firestation on Lasale Blvd.
There was a temporary classroom for St. Thomas Moore over the fire station and I went there for third grade. Two years later St. Thomas Moore opened its new school.
Does anyone remember Ernie Chaisson who was a Verdun Fireman?? He lived on Rushbrooke,,had sister Margaret,,Irene,,brother?? He was also a terrific hockey player..nose broken a few times.
Also for a time (around 1959 at least), there was a branch of the Verdun Library on the second floor above the Fire Station. The other old Library location I am aware of (c. 1952) was on the south-west corner of Verdun Ave and Church street, next to the Dominion Store on Church Ave.
Great, next time say hi..he lived above me on Rushbrooke..his dad was a longshore man and would bring the hook home with him..haha..,thought of the other brother..michael??
